One of the biggest positives of online slots is that there’s room to experiment. While slots with reels have had a traditional structure of 3 or 5 reels, some games break the mold with different sized reel formats, while still sticking within the relatively traditional concept overall.
Here are a few games that leverage unusual structures that you can play online! Some can also be played in casinos, while others are exclusively an online slot.
Jumanji
Jumanji has a 3x4x5x4x3 format and is also a lines game, which adds some additional suspense to the games as effectively the symbols have to be touching on adjacent reels for it to line up. Features that can add wilds, move symbols around to guarantee a win, or even hold winning symbols and respin the others for a bigger win, add to the intrigue.
The bonus round takes you to the Jumanji board game where you can get up to four bonuses in the bonus! There’s a lot of great stuff here that makes the game quite exciting.
Wheel of Fortune Triple Extreme Spin
Wheel of Fortune Triple Extreme Spin has the same 3x4x5x4x3 reel set as Jumani, but is an all ways pays game, and pays also pay both left to right and right to left. With both a feature and a bonus available, there’s also regular bonus action to keep things fun and exciting!
BetMGM now features an exclusive version of the game as part of their line-up, with the original being available on most online casinos.
Deal or No Deal Megaways
Deal or No Deal Megaways just one of many, many Megaways slots on online casinos. Aside from having a sixth reel, which is unusual on its own, it’s also got an extra set of reel spaces above the main reel set, AND the main reels vary in size on every spin. Ad in cascading wins, and you’ve got a very different sort of experience with an especially volatile potential.
For this game, enough cascades bring you to a bonus, which mixes traditional Deal or No Deal with the chance to get free games, another unusual twist.
Ultimate Fire Link Cash Falls China Street
The Cash Falls series is one of those that are available both in casinos and online, with a 4x4x6x6x8 all ways pays structure. But the number of ways decreases as balls land on spaces and stick around for three spins, unless that individual reel collects another ball, which resets the counter.
Unique to Ultimate Fire Link Cash Falls is that you can trigger a Fire LInk bonus if you fill a reel with balls and one of them is the Fire Link bonus. Filling a reel awards all the prizes, so you score the bonus if that’s among the prizes.
Tiki Fortune
Tiki Fortune is a bit different than the first two, with a 3x4x4x4x3 reel set and 50 lines. You have the ability to collect coins, and getting enough coins turns the reel wild for three spins. Multipliers can come into play, and you can have multiple reels wild on a single spin. However, only the middle three reels on this game can turn wild.
