Many casinos offer players kiosks, which can sometimes incorporate games into the offers. A player was curious about the kiosks:
When swiping your player’s card at the kiosk, the casino may offer a game for you to play to collect rewards. This is especially true when it’s your birthday month. Is the amount you win already predetermined?

We’re not as versed on kiosks as we are slot machines, so we figured it was a good opportunity to reach out to the experts. We contacted Everi, a company with kiosks that are very familiar to players, as casinos across the country have adopted them, including those run by both Caesars and MGM.
Jeff Hoss, Vice President, Marketing, Loyalty at Everi, said kiosk games can be either predetermined or random, based on what the casino wishes to offer as far as the promotion.
Some games are predetermined, while other promotions are truly random. For birthdays, most fall into the same offer the player would have received via a mail offer.

It’s all dependent on how the casino wishes to set up the offer, and our technology enables the operator to facilitate whatever promotion they want to run and how they wish to run it.
So, it depends on the promotion being offered and how the casino wishes to offer that promotion. When it comes to those bonus birthday offers, those will often be predetermined based on your existing offer levels, since it’s effectively a bonus offer and will tend to be linked to player play.
But they do have kiosk games that can be random as well – it just depends on the casino’s goal for a given promotion and how it’s being run. The flexibility of what Everi offers is part of what makes their kiosk so compelling for casinos, and why you see so many of them out there!
In a way this makes it just like a slot machine – a bonus can be random or predetermined, and the approach is based on (in that case) what the slot maker feels will make for compelling play. Predetermined picks exist to speed up the outcome vs. a true pick scenario that could go on for awhile, for instance.
For players, it means casinos can offer lots of ways to incentivize players using the kiosk as the place to secure the offer, as opposed to a simple mailing with a number. The chance for securing big prizes is certainly a draw for some, and just another way casinos can encourage a visit.
But ultimately regardless of design, it’s there to serve a particular purpose for the casino – to reward players based on the casino’s marketing goals.
