The Basics
BetMGM Sports is a part of the BetMGM ecosystem of offerings (which includes BetMGM Casino in states that allow iGaming as well). BetMGM Sports is a brand found in sportsbooks across the MGM International casino portfolio, as well as their online and app for sports betting in states that have legalized the betting option.
Those already in the MGM ecosystem, or who like to earn perks that can be redeemed in casinos, will find BetMGM an attractive option, but even new players will like the robust and elegant setup that BetMGM offers players.

Exploring BetMGM Sports
BetMGM has a robust and organized setup for betting on sports, but definitely is structured more towards those who know what they’re doing. If you’re new to sports betting, we highly recommend you read our Explore Sports Betting guide to get acclimated before looking around.
BetMGM Sports has a simply massive amount of ways you can bet on sports. You can do traditional bets on major sports like NFL football, Major League Baseball, NHL hockey and so on. NCAA football games are also present, although state-level limitations might put some games off limits depending on where you live (which would be the case regardless of sports betting site).
But you can also bet on games outside the US – examples of what we saw during our review was soccer and tennis matches taking place outside the country.
In certain cases you can bet on games that are in progress, although the betting options will be understandably fewer than if a game hasn’t started yet.
All three traditional betting options for a full game (moneyline, spreads and over/under) are in the default view when you click into a game. There’s also a second set of these bets sometimes shown, with a different criteria for them (for instance, the first 5 innings of a baseball game). This was the first example of what became a virtually never-ending set of bet options in the site.
Further browsing in the “All Wagers” area showed a spreads screen that had different spread options for different odds. For example, if the default spreads show a close game but you want to bet on a blowout, you can, with better odds, because the oddsmakers think it’s more likely to not happen, so the player is taking on that risk with their hunch. This area also featured betting options marked with SGP, indicating eligibility for Same Game Parlay bets. There were also pre-built SGP options for those who wanted a simpler way to place parlay bets from recommended options.
Speaking of parlays, parlay options had their own tab, with the ability to quickly build a same-game parlay should a player choose to. There’s also the “Build Parlay” button helpfully located right under the team names. If you’re new to sports betting, we recommend simpler bets, but many sports betting options are pushing same-game parlays because players want the chances for bigger payouts, and for the bet takers they tend to have higher margins.
Under an NFL game you can bet on totals, halves, quarters, win/totals, win/spreads, touchdowns… whew! Presumably all these bets are there to build a complex and difficult to win same-game parlay, but you could choose to make any individual wagers as well.
When you add multiple bets to a bet slip, it will default to straight bets, but you can choose to switch to a Parlay mode if you wish to bet on the group of choices as a single wager. With a parlay all of your legs have to resolve as winners for you to get paid out, where betting on each individually as a straight bet, each winning bet will be paid.
As you enter the amount you wish to wager, it shows you how much you will get paid if your bet is a winning one.
BetMGM Rewards
Like BetMGM Casino, the BetMGM Rewards program rewards players for making bets on BetMGM Sports. As part of the program, for every $100 in wagers you make, you can get at least 20 BetMGM Rewards Points and 20 tier credits.
BetMGM Rewards Points can be converted into bonus bets or MGM Rewards Points, which are able to be used at MGM’s physical casino properties across the country. If you like to visit MGM casinos, this can be a nice way to centralize your play towards a single loyalty program. A more recent update now also allows you to convert BetMGM Rewards Points to Marriott Bonvoy points for use at their hotels worldwide.
Other Promotions
BetMGM Rewards members, like MGM Rewards members, get access to discounts to things like hotel rooms, shows and more, particularly for markets like Las Vegas. If you don’t have comps built up, this is a nice additional reason to take advantage of BetMGM, as their ties to other casinos can be a benefit to you as a player.
Sometimes the ability to get benefits that cross between the online and physical world exist. When we were booked at one MGM property, we received a BetMGM offer that gave us BetMGM Rewards Points for making a certain amount of sports bets, just for staying at the hotel. So it helps to check the app regularly, especially if you’re planning to stay with MGM Resorts properties.
