The Basics
DraftKings is one of the most popular brands when it comes to sports betting, and their online casino successfully extends their reputation into real money gaming. Their focus on having exclusive games developed for their casino is one area that sets them apart, as well as linked jackpots on both slots and table games.
- Providers that aren’t often seen are featured, making available popular games not found in most online casinos
- Creative and diverse set of exclusive branded game options
- Game search is easy to use and is front and center
- You can demo games before playing them – even if not logged in
- Linked progressives for both slot and table game play available
- Not linked to any major casino company
- Crown Cash, the comp currency, accrues slowly and requires a higher tier to qualify
- Some live dealer tables have minimums that are out of reach for most players
Game Selection
Like other casinos listed on this site, DraftKings will give you access to a strong array of gaming options, both from established game companies you’ll often find with online casinos such as Light & Wonder and IGT, as well as ones we haven’t seen as often such as Konami, Ainsworth and Incredible Technologies, all of which have popular titles you can find on casino floors across the country. They also feature digital-focused options like White Hat Gaming, Games Global, DGC and Slingo, so there’s a full array of options available.
Unlike some of the other casinos listed here, DraftKings leans much more heavily on offering exclusive branded titles that you can’t find anywhere else. This isn’t limited exclusivity windows on new releases, but games that are designed to only live on DraftKings.
Some are simply table or slot offerings that fall in line with what you may be used to, but also very innovative offerings like DraftKings Rocket, which has a unique method of play, placing wagers on a rocket and then cashing out before the rocket explodes, kicking off a trend of “crash” games with similar concepts in different themes.
We love the fact that you can demo games without having to even be signed in, so if you want to see what their selection is like before playing with real money, you can give it a shot (as well as see the publicly listed payback percentages on games that have them).
Game search is powerful and helpful, given the size of their game library, making it easy to locate the game you want without scrolling through a massive list. We love the way the search takes over the screen, putting it front and center, and making it easy to focus on finding the right game.
Their live table games offerings are pretty much in line with what many of the online casinos have, except they break many of their Blackjack tables down by the minimum bet requirements, some of which are also higher than what many other providers have required. Since our last update, they seem to have diversified the options a bit, and they offer a robust number of high limit table games, but also still a number of lower limit options. That said, the bulk of the Blackjack tables are $25 a hand or higher, just like in the casinos, so be prepared for that.
The minimums are consistently much lower on the standard electronic table options, and here too DraftKings has a large variety of branded offerings to go along with the more expected choices. Andrew Dice Clay Craps is a particularly unique choice, as is WWE Blackjack and Hart-Race Hold’Em.
But if you prefer more traditional options, they’re all here too. DraftKings’ branded options also give some thematic variations without disrupting the normal flow of many of the games, which can be good just to change up the feel of playing now and then.
And finally, the standard IGT complement of video poker choices are here, so you won’t miss out on that if you’re looking for it.
DraftKings Jackpots
One element that’s different about DraftKings is a variety of progressive jackpot options that can be accessed with an ante bet on each spin. The upcharge ranges from 10 cents to 25 cents a spin, and the jackpots vary. One is a must hit by jackpot, others feature four tier levels (Mini, Minor, etc.) so your wager is unlocking access to four progressives.
They are not easy to hit, which is an important note because the wager is added on to every spin, regardless of bet level. So if you’re doing 20 cent spins that 10 cent or 25 cent add on is a significant addition to your bet, with low odds of hitting it. If you’re betting higher, those small add-ons might be a rounding error. So like anything else, related to betting, your mileage may vary.
DraftKings Rewards Loyalty Program
DraftKings is not affiliated with any major casino organizations, so as a result they have an in-house loyalty program, DraftKings Rewards, which replaced their initial effort, Dynasty. Like the previous offering, you earn tier credits and Crown Cash, their comps bucket, as you play throughout the DraftKings site. You earn faster on slots than table games, similar to other casino tier programs.
One major improvement under DraftKings Rewards is a simple 1:1 equivalence between Crown Cash and actual dollars. Crown Cash can be used to place wagers on the site or buy merchandise. If leveraged to place wagers, once played through a single time, you can withdraw what you won off those wagers, or keep playing. Crown Cash is a universal comp bucket that works across DraftKings’ various platforms, such as Golden Nugget Online Casino and Jackpocket.
As you earn Tier Credits you can tier up – tiering up gives you additional perks. A number of them occur at the Silver tier level, such as birthday rewards and a weekly lossback program, which improve in overall value for higher tier players. Crown Cash earnings also start at the Silver tier.
Of course, as an online only program those tiers tend to amplify the online elements around things like Crown Cash and additional bonuses.
Other Promotions
DraftKings will often offer a promotion for playing a certain amount on a specific game, or have leaderboard contests that award prizes based on your placement on a leaderboard. Individualized offers are also made available placed on your play, and higher players could be assigned a VIP host.
One member of our team lived in a DraftKings market where real money gaming was available, and was assigned a host twice in a 15 month period. Those hosts disappeared pretty fast, so they are very quick to drop you if you aren’t a consistently high player. They were also heavily invested in sports, even if you were a slots player, so this was one downside to our experience with the program.
Some deposit bonuses have a pretty hefty playthrough requirement, so it’s worth reading all the details before getting started. They’ll also offer other types of promotions such as loss rebates in DraftKings Dollars (which have a 1x playthrough requirement on slots), so the diversity of offers may make it such that you aim for ones you’re more comfortable playing against.
Free spin offers are now often coming as “Flex Spins,” which lets you pick which slot to play the promotion. This new format offers more flexibility than the way it had been previously offered, which limited players to a specific slot only.
