What’s the benefit of getting more bonus symbols? Multiple players recently asked us what to expect from it:
Is it a better bonus when you get a 4 or 5 trigger?Catrina M.
Has Brian ever had a 5 trigger bonus? I’ve never seen it happen? Are the wins considerably larger?Juliet
We found this recent example of Brian getting a 5 symbol trigger, although it was actually during a bonus so technically a retrigger:
So he has done it, but it’s certainly rare. In the case of this bonus, the retrigger helped him towards a jackpot, so it was certainly a valuable consideration in this bonus!
The value of a 4 or 5 symbol bonus trigger can vary by game, as game design varies in terms of what bonus symbols deliver. Common benefits often encompass one of two options:
- A bigger payout for hitting more symbols at once (that’s the case on the Lightning Dollar Link bonus Brian got)
- More free spins than if you triggered a smaller number of spins
The former at least guarantees a better outcome, as you’re starting off with a bigger prize. The latter opens the potential for bigger payouts, but doesn’t guarantee them. Having more spins gives the game more chances to hit, or retrigger for even more spins, but it is still beholden to what outcomes the RNG provides for the spins.
There are some players that believe in the bonus symbol curse – that getting more bonus symbols upfront means they’re destined to get a bad bonus. This isn’t something that’s real, but because 4 and 5 bonus symbols are so much harder to get on many games, players are apt to remember the bad bonuses much more in those scenarios than a more traditional 3 symbol trigger.
We hope this helps illustrate what’s possible with a five symbol trigger bonus, and that you get one (or more) of your own soon!
