Some online casinos, such as DraftKings and Bally, allow you to demo a slot, effectively with play money, before playing it for real with cash. Are those set up to pay better than the real thing?
Are the demo versions of slots in online casinos the same as the cash version of the same slot games. In other words, can they make the demo versions pay out more than the equivalent cash version?

One of the nicest things about online casinos is that most slots show you the return to player (RTP) within the rules and pay information on the game. So it’s easy to review what the demo mode is set to, and then what the real money play is set to.
We often review the demo mode as part of us walking through various aspects of game features for our Game Spotlights. So far, we have not found any examples where the demo is set to a higher RTP than the actual game.
That’s not to say that it never happens, of course, or that examples don’t exist. But since the information is readily available, the easiest thing to do is to double check, so you know if the real thing is going to play similarly to what you saw when trying it out.
And remember that even with the same RTP, slot sessions can go all sorts of different directions. We’ve gotten some crazy cool moments come out on demo mode. And we’ve had literally nothing happen on demo mode. The same can be said with real money play.
The fact that slots have such variance can be part of what makes them fun, and also part of what can make them so frustrating. But so far, we’ve found the demo modes to be a great way to determine what a slot will feel like when playing with real money.
