We know the pots don’t give an indication as to whether a bonus is coming. But what about the various values that are flying into the pots as they grow?
As we are spinning, there are games that have amounts in their little pots/trains/coins that are added to their respective colored pots on the screen and eventually you fill them and get to the bonus round. Are the amounts on those items reflective of the amount your bonus might be?

Those values mean nothing unless they are directly involved in the triggering of the bonus. The ones that trigger the bonus stick around and are part of the bonus that results, but everything before it doesn’t have any impact for traditional pot bonuses.
This goes back to the fact that each slot spin must be independent from each other. So the values that came before won’t be tangled into future spins because those spins have already passed by. So, you can safely ignore those values until such time as the bonus triggers.
Now, as with anything where we paint a broad brush, there can be exceptions. There are slots with accumulating values, such as free spin counts or growing progressives, where the tallies do have an impact when you hit the bonus.
A game like Regal Riches has a set of progressive counters – when a bonus symbol appears without triggering the bonus, the counter increments. When that bonus is triggered, that higher counter equates to more wilds that will be added to the reels during your bonus. (It doesn’t guarantee when a bonus will hit, or a specific amount won in the bonus, just that you’ll get those wilds.)
Similarly, a game like Rich Little Piggies/Hens/etc. can have certain coins increment the various prizes on offer in the Jackpot bonus when triggered. Here, too, there is no guarantee that you will win them, just that they will be available, and like any game with growing values it makes sense to pick one with bigger values if you’re going to play, so your prizes are better if you do win them.
But in most cases, the values on the coins just go by, like any other hold and spin game where the only time they matter is when the bonus is triggered. So don’t let those big coins that occasionally fly by drive you to play more – your chances of a bonus, and the prizes that come with one, don’t change because of what came before it.
