Slot machines can be found in commercial casinos like those found in Las Vegas, as well as in tribal casinos like those found in places like California, Connecticut and Oklahoma. Is there a difference?
Can you explain the difference between tribal casinos vs. commercial casinos as far as “timing” goes? I know you say it’s all about timing where you play, but do tribal casinos have a random number generator or is it predetermined?

When it comes to tribal casinos, some are able to offer the same games as in places like Las Vegas based on their agreement with the state. When those games, sometimes known as Class III slots, are able to be offered, the same slot machine design with the same random number generator solution would be found.
For those casinos, you’ll find the same machines and games as you’ll find in commercial casinos, so there’s basically no difference. There could be different rules around things like minimum payouts or how long the odds the top jackpot prize can be. But it’s for all intents and purposes the same setup.
In other instances, tribal casinos will offer Bingo Machines, which effectively are playing Bingo, but you’ll still see the slot machine reels and such, being employed as a way to show you if you won or lost on that game of Bingo.
While there’s no random number generator, as the game of Bingo is the determining factor of whether you won or lost, timing still matters because when you wager you’re joining a bingo game, and which games you join, and the numbers that are drawn, can have an impact on your winning or losing.
Some offer both – we see this in the casinos here in California, and have in other states like Oklahoma as well.
So as it turns out, in both cases it’s not predetermined – your timing is a critical component. Of course, we’ll never know what the outcome would have been if you pressed spin a moment sooner or later, but whether these systems or others that are utilized, the outcome is not known before you make your wager, and that means your timing is involved.
