Those who have played enough games online may be familiar with games where you collect prizes off of reel symbols containing fish when a fisherman appears. But the frustrating aspect is that those prizes aren’t always available, so you see enticing numbers but can’t win them because, say, you’re not in the bonus round.
4ThePlayer, a quickly rising game developer, decided to play with that concept but make the prizes more accessible, and the end result is a game called 4 Fantastic Fish. Now, as long as the fish appear on successive reels, you win those prizes instantly – and you have some help from some ocean creatures along the way.
Let’s take a look at the game, as well as where you can play it online.
4 Fantastic Fish Base Game
This game is an all ways pays game with a 6×4 reel set, yielding 4,096 ways to win. This means as long as symbols appear on successive reels, you’ll be paid for the win.
Minimum bet here, despite all these ways, is as low as 20 credits – 20 cents – making this an example of a game that could be fun microbetting, especially given its volatility.
One thing that’s great about 4ThePlayer is their name isn’t just a catchy title, but a philosophy. Their demo game pay table features really interesting data points, including the fact that:
- The game is very high volatility – keep that in mind if that’s not your thing
- The average player in 100 spins will see an average best win of 51x your bet, but 1 in 10 players will see a 178x best win, 1 in 1,000 will see a 487x best win, and 1 in 10,000 will see a 1,533 best win.
These data points can really help a player get a sense of what the ride will be like.
Cash Ways
Like other game in online casinos with fish, the game features fish with money amounts on them (known as “cash on reels”). However, unlike other fish games, you can win those prizes simply by lining them up as a winning combination, just like any other pay symbol on the reels. They call this Cash Ways, which makes sense since all cash ways pays!
Being an all ways pays game, that simply means having them appear on successive reels. The fish prizes get bigger as you get farther to the right, which makes sense because getting all the way to the last reel can be difficult to achieve.
The game features four Big Fish that only appear on reel 6, which means you have to get fish on every reel to be awarded them. They are indeed big fish, with prizes of 100x, 500x, 2,000x and 10,000x relative to your overall bet level.
A giant squid can come out and reorganize the fish into a combination that pays, with each adjustment an upgrade. We’ve learned from 4ThePlayer that the squid frequency is on average 1 in 111 spins.
Respin Bonus
3 or more Respin scatter symbols will trigger the respin bonus. The reels the symbols land on at the time of the trigger are the reels that are initially unlocked.
The traditional 3 respin model then occurs, with fish landing on unlocked reels being held and resetting the counter. If a respin symbol lands on a locked reel, it will unlock that reel for the remainder of the bonus.
A couple of friends of the sea can assist in this bonus. The giant squid can move fish from locked reels to unlocked ones. A full reel of fish will get eaten by a shark, multiplying the value of the prizes by 2 and locking them to the top space of the reel. This opens up more spaces for fish to land.
The big fish prizes remain available on the 6th reel as well, as do larger prizes in general, so unlocking that sixth reel can be a key to a sizable bonus.
A Buy Feature capability exists on this game that some online casinos will offer; for 75x your bet amount, you can buy a Respin Bonus.
