Konami has always charted its own path with hold and spin style games, and the All Aboard series is no exception. But the ability to keep collecting the coins on games like All Aboard Dynamite Dash unlocked a new way to handle these types of bonuses, and has captured players’ attention.
Let’s take a look at the game, and where you can play it for real money online.
All Aboard Dynamite Dash features a 50-line base game at 50 credits a spin minimum, yielding a 50 cent minimum bet. The game is a 5×3 reel set, so from that structure it’s pretty traditional.
One oddity with the online version vs. the physical one is in casinos, you can choose denominations, and the line count changes as you go higher in denomination. Here, when we changed the denomination, the game stuck to 50 lines. So on dollar denomination you are looking at a starting point of $50 a spin, vs. the 5 line, $5 spin you see in casinos. So be aware of how the bets calculate.
The game features stacked wilds, not unusual in this sort of game format, to try to help align some line hits. Line hits aren’t the easiest to achieve here; much of the money for this game is found in its two bonuses and features.
This version features four flat bonuses and one Grand progressive. The flat bonuses change proportionally with bet, so the chances of winning them on any bet stay the same. The Grand progressive chances increase with overall bet.
There are four poker symbols and five premium symbols, plus the wild, bonus and trains (for triggering the All Aboard feature). So while on the surface there’s not a whole ton of symbols, they do have the ability to get in the way of each other, also not unusual for this sort of game.
Free Game Feature
Three dynamite, found only on the middle three reels, are what you need to trigger the Free Game Feature. You get 9 free games, and during it the amount of wild symbols are increased, amping up the chances for good line hits.
The other feature (All Aboard) can be triggered during the free games, to get the bonus in the bonus.
All Aboard Feature
Six or more trains trigger the All Aboard feature. At the start of the bonus, each train turns into a coin. You then have three spins to land at least one more train. If you do, you collect all the coins featured on the board, the counter resets to three spins, and the train(s) you landed turn to coin(s).
If you land more than one train in a spin, you still only collect the coins once, so the ideal scenario is to land trains one at a time. Konami cleverly left this scenario intact and it allowed for an iteration for future game series such as Bull Blitz, but that’s how it works here.
The bonus ends when either all 15 spaces are filled, landing the Grand progressive, or when three spins go without landing another train. In the rare scenario you don’t get to collect the coins at least once during the feature, you’re still paid the coins that are on the screen, so there’s no zero bonuses here.
The fresh wrinkle of being able to collect the coins over and over is where a lot of the potential lies, especially if you get one of the bigger flat progressives to land early and get collected a few times.
