Aruze slot machines have had a steady presence on casino floors for a long time, but this is the first time we’ve seen an Aruze slot on an online casino. Cash Locomotive was a popular slot series on casino floors, so it’s a natural to make the jump online.
Let’s explore the various features of Cash Locomotive Happy Dragon, and where you can play it online!
Base Game
Cash Locomotive Happy Dragon is a 5×3 reel set game with 50 lines. Minimum bet is 50 cents in alignment with the 50 lines – standard for a game of this structure in the casino, but higher than many online-optimized slots nowadays.
The game features 9 pay table symbols – four poker symbols and five premium symbols. It also features a stacked wild structure (with wilds found on reels 2-5), cash on reels star symbols that are linked to a collect feature, and scatter bonus symbols, which trigger the free games.
The game features four flat prizes, with the rules written to follow the physical casino but with the two progressives converted to flat jackpots here. All of the prizes change proportionally with your bet, so your chances of winning them will be the same on any bet.
Collect Feature
The game features both silver and gold star cash on reels symbols. A spin where a gold star lands will trigger this feature. It can be triggered by landing a gold star on reel 5, or if you land 6 or more star symbols on a single spin, one of them will turn gold automatically to trigger the bonus.
In essence, this is your classic hold and win bonus, with the difference that you can sometimes trigger it with a gold star on reel 5 without needing to get at least 6. The standard three spin counter than initiates to land another symbol. Your bonus ends when either you go three spins without landing another prize, or you fill all 15 spaces.
When you fill all 15 spaces, you get a prize pick which can yield a credit prize or one of the four flat prizes, including the Grand. You pick from among 10 trains on the screen, and as the pay table notes your chances of winning each prize are not equal.
As such, it’s not a lock to get the Grand when filling the board, something we know will frustrate or confuse some players who expect that by default. It’s in there as a possible outcome, but it’s not guaranteed.
Free Games
Three or more of the bonus scatter symbols will trigger free games. You get 9 free spins with more wilds added to reels 2-5. You can retrigger for more free games. The Collect Feature can also be triggered during the free games.
