Sometimes slots will leverage the heritage and history of a previous game, introduce some new options, and yield a modern game that still evokes what made a previous game special. With the Endless Treasure slot machine, that was accomplished in spades.
Endless Treasure is part of the Jin Ji Bao Xi series of slots. When it came out, it and its sister game, Rising Fortunes, leveraged two games in the Light & Wonder library as a foundation – 5 Treasures and 88 Fortunes, respectively – using their symbols and basic game structures as a foundation for the new games.
Today, let’s focus on the Endless Treasure slot specifically, and what makes this game particularly fun.
Base Game
Like the other games in this series over time, this is a 5×3 reel set with an all ways pays format. This means instead of having paylines, wins can be achieved as long as the symbols appear on at least three successive reels starting with the left one. Stacked symbols can increase the number of winning ways a win can pay out, increasing the overall payout.
The 5 gold symbols bets that existed on the original games carry over here, but with new wrinkles. You’re eligible for jackpots at any bet level starting at 36 credits, a change from the previous games where you had to bet all 5 gold symbols, starting at 88 credits, to qualify.
Instead, the gold symbols amplify the symbol payouts and the amounts that can appear on the “cash on reels” symbols – that’s the slot maker term for those symbols with numbers on them. Six of those triggers the bonus, instead of three bonus symbols on the previous games.
Bonus Feature
Each of the Jin Ji Bao Xi games gives you a bonus choice. They always include the opportunity for a Top Up bonus. In that bonus, you get six spins to collect gold and green coins to collect all the prizes off the coins you got to trigger the bonus. You can also get more free spins, up to six more, on the spaces. If all 15 spaces are filled with coins on the trigger or during the spins, you’ll win the Grand progressive jackpot, as long as you get 36 credits.
Or, you can choose six free games, with an identical setup to the original 5 Treasures bonus, where you can select which symbol you want to have added, with higher paying symbols giving you less, effectively making for a volatility choice. Coins can still appear on the reels, an addition for this bonus option, paying the sum of the triggering coins when you land one on the reels.
The Grand progressive jackpot can also be awarded randomly during this bonus, again if at least 36 credits are wagered.
Jackpot Pick Feature
Like its predecessor, wilds throw coins into the pot, and any wild can trigger the pot to close. When the pot closes, you get the predetermined picking feature.
One thing to note about the jackpot pick is that the Mini and Minor are now flat prizes, instead of progressives. The Major and Grand can now often get a lot bigger the way this game is structured, since the progressive money is effectively going into two more difficult to achieve prizes.
Like the previous games, you pick until you match three. You’ll close the pot more frequently when you’re betting higher, but the chances of winning a given prize once the pot closes is the same.
