The Extra Chilli Slot is a Big Time Gaming offering that features a lot of the key aspects that players want in an online game, including variable height reels and a buy-a-bonus opportunity. It also has a persistence feature that over time brings down the cost of acquiring a bonus, a fun capability that can entice those who aren’t necessarily big fans of outright buying bonuses.
Extra Chilli Slot Base Game
Extra Chilli slot is a Megaways game, and therefore picks up on many of those traits. For one, the game is six reels, with variable height reels that change every spin, anywhere from 2 to 7 spaces per reel, per spin. The middle four reels have an extra reel space outside the reels, which guarantee at least three spaces per spin (but still cap at 7).
The game works on an all ways pays model, which means you don’t need to have the symbols on a specific line to win, just on adjacent reels. The total ways to win with 7 spaces on each reel can therefore reach 117,649 ways to win.
Finally, this game features a cascading feature that when a win is achieved, the winning pay symbols will disappear, to be replaced by other symbols. If you have a winning combination again, you’ll be paid for that combination, those symbols disappear, and more still will drop down. This continues until there are no more winning combinations to pay.
Free Spins
Three scatter symbols (which spell “HOT”) will yield the free spins feature. Three symbols will initially start a player with 12 free spins, but each additional scatter symbol landed to trigger the bonus will yield an additional 4 free spins to start.
Then a Feature Gamble wheel will be offered, with successive spins yielding more free spins, but a chance to either lose the bonus entirely or have your free spin count reduced. The pay table actually confirms the best strategy is to spin, because after the first spin you have a better than 50/50 chance of landing the upgrade (60 percent). And, after two spins you’re guaranteed a bonus regardless, it’s just how many spins you’ll get.
During the bonus, a multiplier is introduced, which starts at 1x and grows with each winning line hit and cascade. This multiplier has no upper limit, so as the number of cascades increases, so does the multiplier.
The extra reel spaces in reels 2-5 can also house scatter symbols during the bonus that can lead to a retrigger; three symbols add 4 more spins, while four symbols add 8 more spins.
The retriggers, combined with the growing multiplier for winning combinations, can yield some pretty amazing results.
Feature Drop
A unique element to this game is the Feature Drop, a buy a bonus concept that initially starts at 50x your bet level, but as you play, coins can appear, decreasing the cost of buying the bonus. If the amount reaches zero, the bonus triggers automatically, or you can choose to buy the bonus at whatever level it is at.
Feature Drop is locked to a bet level, so if you change bet levels it will chance to whatever it was last at (50x your bet if not played or had just reset). It is persistent purely to your account, so someone else can’t come in and buy a bonus after you’ve brought the price down.
Feature Drop is an option that doesn’t appear everywhere, but is a cool addition in markets that include it.
