The Jinse Dao Dragon Slot Machine takes a different sort of approach to the popular mechanic of prizes being found on the reels of slots. Instead of a hold and spin approach, Jinse Dao Dragon has what’s called a “Hit & Win” mechanic, where you get a full reel on the first reel of a symbol, and then as long as prizes appear on successive reels, you win those.
Let’s look at how this makes Jinse Dao Dragon stand out in the casino, and share where you can play it online!
Base Game
With a traditional 3×5 reel set and an all ways pays format, it’s a simple enough structure. Aside from those prize orbs, there are eight pay table symbols, four premium and four poker symbols, plus the bonus symbol. There’s no wilds or any other elements so it’s pretty straightforward.
Premium symbols pay as little as two reels across, whereas poker symbols pay three across or more. The breadth of symbols paying as little as two across helps make the game bring pays out more frequently. The top symbol gives your money back with just two symbols – a nice payout for such a scenario.
When playing in casinos your bet levels start at 50 credits (50 cent at penny denomination), but online it is available for as little as 10 cents a spin – that’s a nice touch and a great opportunity for low betters to play on a budget.
There are no progressives here, just four flat jackpots, which differ from in the casino. So this means the prizes are now proportional to your bet at all levels, and you have an equal chance of winning them regardless of bet level, unlike the progressives in a casino where your odds improve as you bet higher.
Expanding Reels Feature
At least one glowing orb on reel 1 triggers the Expanding Reels feature. The glowing orbs will nudge to fill the reel if they haven’t already filled it. Then, the reels will grow up to three spaces higher each on reels 2-5. Then, orbs that appear on successive reels starting with reel 2 are paid. If any reel has none, no other orbs beyond that reel are paid.
The Mini can appear on reels 4-5, which is why getting farther out can be helpful. The Minor and Major can appear on reel 5. The Grand cannot be won here.
On spins where there is no win but reel 2 has a glowing orb, the reels can expand to show more and the Glowing Orbs can retroactively appear on reel 1.
Compared to a hold and spin feature, the Expanding Reels Feature is designed to come out more often, but will generally offer smaller prizes. This makes the game less volatile overall.
Wheel Bonus
Three yin-yang symbols on reels 3, 4 and 5 trigger the Wheel Bonus on the Jinse Dao Dragon slot machine. A player gets to spin for either free spins or a jackpot. All four jackpots are represented on the wheel, along with a range of free spin amounts of between 5 and 20 spins.
In the free spins a different set of reels are used with an increased chance of getting the Expanding Reels feature. The reels will also grow up to five spaces in the bonus when the Glowing Orbs fill reel 1, opening up the chance for collecting more of the glowing orbs for bigger wins.
