Lightning Zap was a pretty revolutionary game on casino floors, as it took the shape of a slot (in terms of being placed in slot cabinets), but had no reels. Instead, you won or lost basically instantly – very rare for a game of its sort.
Let’s look at the online casino version of Lightning Zap, including where you can play it.
Base Game
Lightning Zap is another one of those games where there’s no bonuses – your payouts are all within the base game. And in this case, there’s no reels. You simply select your bet amount (which start at an affordable 10 cents per spin) and hit wager.
If it’s a winning spin, at least three prizes will be captured, but potentially more (and the total of the prizes will always exceed the bet, so a winning spin is truly winning). And if it’s not a winner, it’s over pretty much instantly.
The pace of this game is faster than slots, so generally the return to player reflects this – even in casinos it had a higher floor to account for the higher coin-in that would take place.
There is one feature, in that a multiplier can activate, growing from 2x to as high as 7x, before popping the awarded prizes as multiplied. While not required to make it happen, bigger wins oftentimes are awarded thanks to the multipliers.
But with prize values up to 500x on the board, of which three are awarded, big wins can result even without the multiplier, and with all wins locked into that base game, it’s not unusual to see some big wins along the way.
On occasion, one prize being targeted for a win can blow up other prizes – it’s their way of building some suspense, and usually leads to a bigger payout with the additional prizes included.
