Lucky Buddha is a unique slot game that introduced the idea of repeating win multipliers – get a line hit using the same symbol multiple times within a certain number of spins and you’ll get a multiplier for the additional wins with that symbol.
Long a favorite on the casino floor, the game is also now playable for real money online. Let’s explore the game, and we’ll also share where you can play it.
Base Game
The game is a 3×5 reel set with 30 paylines. This game has among the simplest pay tables I’ve ever encountered, with just six core symbols (three royal symbols and three premium symbols).
The other symbols are a bonus symbol, which only appears on reels 1-3, and a wild symbol (that matches with all but the bonus) that appears only on reels 2-5. Bonus symbols on reel 3 will add a coin to the Jackpot coin pot.
The key enhancement is the multipliers, which can really drive a lot of the value in the game, so let’s jump right to that!
Repeating Win Multiplier Feature
When you get a line hit with one of the symbols, a 7-spin timer is activated, with a multiplier now attached to that symbol. If within the seven spins you get another line hit with that same symbol, the multiplier is now applied and the counter resets, giving you another seven spins to get another line hit.
The size of the multiplier varies based on symbol and whether you’re in the base game or the free spins. The base game multipliers are as follows:
- Queen, King or Ace poker symbol: 3x
- Cat symbol: 5x
- Dragon symbol: 6x
- Buddha symbol: 7x
An important aspect to this game structure is the multipliers are persistent to the bet level you’re at. This means they only stick around on the specific bet you’re on. Change bets, and the multipliers go away, but go back to that bet later and the multipliers will be where you left them.
The multipliers really liven up the base game and can make for exciting moments, especially when the top Buddha symbol keeps lining up!
Lucky Buddha Wheel Bonus
Triggering a bonus comes courtesy of bonus symbols on reels 1-3. This triggers the Lucky Buddha Wheel Bonus. The wheel can offer a variety of options including:
- A credit prize of 150x to 1,000x your bet multiplier
- One of the three jackpots: Mini, Minor or Major
- The activation of either 2 or all 6 repeating win multipliers
- Free Games, which can provide 12, 15 or 20 free games, depending on the wheel wedge you land on
If you activate the repeating win multiplier, the multipliers listed above are activated on either two symbols or all six symbols, depending on what appears on the wedge. The normal seven spin counter is activated. When you land on one of these wedges you also get a credit prize worth 2x your total bet as an additional award.
Lucky Buddha Free Games
Landing on the Lucky Buddha Free Games wedge initiates the games with a few benefits.
First, any repeating win multiplier features that are active entering the bonus continue into the bonus. You can also activate multipliers during the bonus as you can during the free spins.
The multipliers, however, increase while in the bonus:
- Queen, King or Ace poker symbol: 5x
- Cat symbol: 8x
- Dragon symbol: 9x
- Buddha symbol: 10x
The bonus symbols on reels 2 and 3 also gain a wild component, so they are not only bonus symbols, but wild symbols, which can help connect more line hits during the free games.
With bigger multipliers and the additional wild symbols, the free games really have an opportunity to shine and build a fantastic bonus. It’s not an easy bonus to get, but it can be incredibly rewarding!
At the conclusion of the free games, any activated repeating win multipliers will persist back into the base game, but at the base game multiplier values listed earlier.
