Games with a format where you can win credit prizes if wild symbols appear first as a catalyst have a had a good run in recent years. Konami’s Lucky Envelope Crimson Riches add a few twists, including the ability to win progressives as well as a more generous structure for winning the credit prizes. The series has made the leap from physical casinos to online sites where you can play for real money.
Let’s explore the Lucky Envelope Crimson Riches slot machine, and where you can play the game online.
Lucky Envelope Crimson Riches Base Game
Lucky Envelope Crimson Riches is a 5×3 reel set with 243 ways to win, given that it is an all ways pays format. The bet intervals are 88 credits, and you can set the denomination and the bet level on this, as opposed to selecting a set bet amount. In that way, like other Konami online games, it’s more familiar to those who play in casinos.
There are four progressives in this game, which stay the same throughout a denomination. This means higher bets within a denomination increase the chances of winning a progressive. Changing denomination will change the progressives, so your chances of winning a progressive may change up with your denomination and bet level.
Coin Feature
This is a format where the wilds are on the first two reels in the base game, and only on the first two reels. Landing them both (one each on reels 1 and 2) will allow you to collect the value of all the coins that appear, regardless of whether they’re on consecutive reels or not, a change from other games of this style.
Of course, the two wilds also mean you get something on the line hits as well, regardless of what coins show up. And if the first wild lands without the second, the game can randomly nudge the second wild into place as well.
Only the Mini and Minor progressives are available in this feature, and only on reel 5. The rest of the coins will contain credit prizes, which are proportional based on bet.
Jackpot Feature
Any wild can make the tree explode into a predetermined Jackpot Feature. You pick until you achieve the required number of matching progressive symbols to win that progressive. The Grand needs the most to be won, whereas the Mini needs the least.
But the other options aren’t revealed, confirming that despite the shaken up structure here, it’s still a predetermined bonus. The pay table also confirms “Player selection does not affect the outcome of the game.”
Free Games
The Free Games symbols appear on reels 3, 4 and 5. Getting all three symbols will trigger 12 free games. The big change during the free games is wilds only appear on reel 1, but only 1 wild is needed to trigger the coin feature. Coins will now appear on reel 2, adding more spots to land coins each time a wild appears on reel 1.
The jackpot feature can still be triggered during the free games, but you cannot retrigger for more free games. The wild nudge can occur on reel 1, bringing a wild into view and awarding all coins on reels 2-5. The nudge won’t happen if it will reduce the amount won, so it will only upgrade a win.
Different versions of Lucky Envelope series can have a different free games bonus – it’s the primary aspect that differentiates the games in the initial series.
