Press Your Luck slot machine has seen a revival in recent years thanks to the television version on ABC hosted by Elizabeth Banks. Slot machines featuring the theme have been around a long time, and Everi has in recent years carried the franchise forward with a series of entries that are faithful to the series.
Press Your Luck Whammy Wilds is among the more successful entries in the series, having seen popularity on the casino floor and has made the jump online. It borrows some of its features from the also popular Wicked Wheel series, such as a big stack of progressives that has its own bonus feature, along with two other bonuses.
Let’s explore the slot and how you can get started playing it online.
Base Game

Press Your Luck Whammy Wilds is a 5×3 reel set with no paylines, instead opting for all ways pays and 243 ways to win. There’s eight base game pay table symbols, including two differently colored 7s, but there’s no mixed pay symbols, meaning the exact symbols need to show up to get paid.
Along with those symbols there’s wild symbols that feature 2x, 3x and 4x multipliers – winning combinations that include the wild symbol will award that multiplier – getting two or more will multiply the two multipliers together, offering the chance to build the win even bigger.
They only appear on the middle three reels, and are connected to coins, which fly up to the pig and any one of which can trigger the Whammy Wheel for a progressive (replacing the more traditional picking bonus found on Wicked Wheel games and other similar single pot games).
And yes, the game carries over actual progressives. The game features seven honest to goodness progressives (not flat jackpots like many online slots that make the leap). The downside is that the game is built similarly to a single denomination game on the casino floor.
Minimum bet on the version we reviewed was $1.50, with the denomination fixed to a 2 cent denomination. Max bet was $7.50 – this range matches precisely what can be found on the casino floor at that denom, so it was ported pretty faithfully. That means it’ll be out of reach for the lower bettors.
Bonus symbols appear on reels 1, 3, and 5; two different bonus symbols on reel 5 lead to two separate bonus types.
Whammy Wheel Bonus

Any spin that doesn’t trigger another bonus, and features a Whammy Wild in the middle three reels, can trigger the Whammy Wheel Bonus. You can win a progressive, or progressive +1 spin. Two spins can be awarded per bonus, and the top progressives can’t be awarded with another, so that +1 spin will give you an idea pretty quickly of what you can achieve. The same progressive can’t be awarded twice.
The size of the piggy doesn’t matter, as always, as to when the bonus will trigger, and with the progressives being the same size for all bets, higher bets will yield higher chances of winning this bonus. Before awarding a prize, the Whammy could nudge the wheel to a higher prize.
Press Your Luck Bonus
This bonus is triggered with three Press Your Luck symbols, found on reels 1, 3 and 5.
The Press Your Luck board is front and center here, but instead of stopping on a single prize, you have a set number of spins to try to fill all the board spaces. +1 Spin can land in a space, giving you more chances, but also taking up a spot that could be filled with a credit prize. Whammies will also land, locking up prizes that are only awarded if all the spaces can be filled. Prizes include credit prizes and progressives.
The maximum number of spins that can be achieved is 9, and up to 2 progressives can be awarded. The same progressive cannot be awarded twice, and a top progressive cannot be awarded with a smaller one.
Big Bucks Bonus

This is also triggered with bonus symbols, in this case Press Your Luck symbols on reels 1 and 3, and the Big Bucks symbol on reel 5.
This is also a wheel spin, but instead of being focused on the progressives, this is focused on an array of credit prizes. You spin the wheel, and the wheel will land on a prize. Here, too, the wheel could be nudged to a higher prize before being awarded.
