Ultimate Fire Link Cash Falls by Light & Wonder is a perhaps obvious in hindsight mash-up of two popular game series, the Ultimate Fire Link line and the Cash Falls line.
The base game takes the shape of Cash Falls, but with fresh opportunities to trigger the Fire Link Feature, on top of the more traditional Cash Falls free spins. In the process it both livens up the Cash Falls series while managing to remain faithful to the Ultimate Fire Link series, and the addition of a Retrigger feature further ups the fun.
Let’s take a deeper look at this new game, and where you can play it online with real money gaming. Here, we will review the China Street version, which has a slightly different bonus setup than the Olvera Street version.
Ultimate Fire Link Cash Falls Base Game
The game follows the unique Cash Falls reel set of 4-4-6-6-8. By default this would yield a potential 4,608 ways to win, but inevitably that count is reduced because of the Cash Falls balls.
In this case they take the shape of the Ultimate Fire Link fireballs. They stick around for up to three spins, unless another fireball lands, in which the counter resets. If you fill a reel up, all of the balls are awarded, and all the spaces are unlocked. If the counter runs to 0, the balls unlock with no prizes awarded.
The way we visualize this game is like five hold and spin bonuses going, one on each reel – that counter unless you capture another ball follows that trend pretty closely.
There are only seven core pay symbols here – three premium, four poker symbols. That’s more than enough to be challenging at times, given the presence of the fireballs locking and taking up space. There’s also wild symbols and the (other) bonus symbol to trigger the Cash Falls Free Spins.
There are four jackpot prizes, which don’t act as progressive but are instead flat jackpots that adjust proportionally to your bet. In this way your chances of winning them do not increase with bet like the version in casinos with the set progressive/prize amounts.
However, you do have the chance of winning them in the base game. You can win them in the following ways:
- Mini: Any reel
- Minor: Reels 3-5
- Major and Mega: Reel 5 only
Reels 3-5 are harder to complete with the additional spaces, and so they tend to have the chance to win better prizes, so it makes sense.
The new wrinkle here is the Fire Link Feature ball. If you land this on a reel and fill the reel, you trigger the Fire Link Feature. It is possible to fill more than one reel with this ball at once, meaning you’ll get multiple bonuses off a single wager.
Fire Link Feature
This follows the standard format, with a couple of slight adjustments. For instance, depending on whether you fill a reel of 4, 6 or 8 balls, that’s what you start with in the bonus. The UFL ball will receive a credit prize to ensure all the balls that triggered the bonus pay something.
Then the normal three spins to land more balls begins, with another row unlocking every four balls captured, up to 20 balls when the whole 5×8 reel set is unlocked.
A new ball that can land on the top row is the Retrigger ball – if you unlock the top row with this ball present at the conclusion of the bonus, you get another Ultimate Fire Link bonus – pretty cool stuff. But you can only retrigger once.
The jackpots are available here too, with the Mini and Minor available at any level, and the Major and Mega only available on the top row.
Free Spins Bonus
The Free Spins bonus follows the traditional Cash Falls free spins bonus round, where getting three or more free spins symbols triggers the bonus. More spins are awarded with more symbols:
- 3 free spin symbols: 10 free spins
- 4 free spin symbols: 12 free spins
- 5 free spin symbols: 15 free spins
The same reel set design from the base game is used for the free spins, but now you’re simply focused on the fireballs, collecting as many as you can during the bonus. One nice thing about the free spins is you get to keep any balls that land throughout the bonus.
Filling a reel spins a wheel that awards either a multiplier or a Fire Link Feature. If you get a multiplier, all prizes are multiplied by what lands. If you get the Fire Link Feature, you’re headed into a Fire Link Feature with those fireballs as your starting point. (The other theme of this game, Olvera Street, has credit prizes instead of multipliers; it boosts each ball by a credit prize when that’s what lands.)
