My viewers are really perceptive and often pick up on various things I say in the course of filming content for my channel. Here’s a great example:
How do you tell that a machine has recently given a bonus on any particular denomination? I have heard you say that a bonus has been won on some denomination.
Justa P.
On many games you can click through the various denominations and bets, and when you do, some machines will show you the most recent outcome that had occurred with the previous player on that bet. This is often the case when changing denominations on a game like Dragon Link.
Because of this, if you see a bunch of fireballs with a big win total above the reels, you know a bonus was hit on the last spin taken at that bet/denomination combination.
Now, as we know, that doesn’t mean the next spin can’t be a bonus – the odds of a bonus on any spin are the same, regardless of what came just before it. But like a roulette board that shows the most recent numbers hit, some of us like to see what’s happened recently. It’s not information we can act on, but it’s part of the gambling superstition.
Now, if you choose not to play that denomination as a result, does it hurt you? No, because it’s a decision that neither helps nor hurts you. So if you decide you don’t want to play that bet, that’s really your call – your chances don’t change just because you chose a different bet level.
This is also why some casinos continue to require a “spin off” spin after a jackpot, because if left on the jackpot screen it’s less likely someone will play the machine – player superstitions run large, even when it doesn’t actually make a difference.
Ultimately, I’m aware of it because some of the games choose to show me it. Other modern slots purposefully don’t because of those superstitions. When I call it out, it’s because I’m playing a game that does show the recent outcome, and I happen to notice it while clicking around, trying to decide what bet I want to play..
