By now Brian Christopher has done hundreds of group pulls. We periodically get questions about it, but this one comes up probably the most:
How do you choose the game you are going to play for group pulls?
Julie
While Brian addressed this briefly in a previous blog post, let’s cover the main factors in more detail.
Location of the Machine
Space considerations are among the most important. Most of our group pulls have about 25-30 participants, plus our team, the recording equipment, and so on. That means we can’t be in a tightly packed aisle. Slots where there’s room for people to maneuver and see what’s going on will get top priority. Machines on the end of a row are often more accessible too, although casinos are increasingly putting games in pods, which help to avoid long narrow rows.
This can get particularly tricky in tighter spaces like on the Brian Christopher Slots Cruises – sometimes there’s only a few games that can meet the criteria! But we always look for that balance.
Amount Per Spin
The amount wagered per spin during a group pull will depend on the group pull size. If you have 30 people each putting in $200, that’s $6,000, but if each is putting in $500, you’re now at $15,000. We don’t want the video to be too long or too short, so generally the sweet spot is between 8 and 10 spins per person. So we’ll look for slots that have a high enough bet level to accommodate that sized spin amount.
What a Casino Wants to Showcase
Sometimes, the casino we’re partnering with wants to showcase they have a particular game, especially when it comes to high limit selection. They’ll even sometimes ensure the machine is positioned in a way that’s favorable for having room, and that the amount per spin can be met.
What Viewers Want to See
There are some slots that are particularly popular within the community, and we’ll factor that in where we can. A group pull on a new Huff N’ Puff series game will generally get a lot of interest, so when we have those opportunities we’ll certainly lean into them!
Have We Played it Recently?
We also try to make sure we’re not constantly doing group pulls on the same machines. While certain games are natural fits for this sort of format, we know viewers don’t always want to see the same games, either! So while we will revisit certain types of games with more frequency, we also keep an eye to something new or different to ensure a diversity of options.
Takeaway
A lot goes into making a group pull happen, and even after doing hundreds of them, we continue to keep the various aspects in mind to ensure an entertaining video each time you watch!
