Some slots now have the ability for you to pick which game you wish to play. A reader wondered how that impacts payback:
When playing a slot which has multiple games on it, would I be playing the machine i.e the machine percentage or each game on the machine percentage. Also how does this affect linked games machines?

Multi-game machines are configured with each game having its own payback level set for each game and each denomination. So when you change from one game to another, or one denomination to another, the settings can (and oftentimes do) change.
This should feel intuitive, for instance, to those who play Video Poker or Video Keno as it’s the same general idea – switch variations of Video Poker and the pay table will be different. Shift denominations and you might see slightly different pay tables as you go up in denomination.
Slots work the same way. Brian Christopher recently observed the techs installing a multi-game machine in a casino, and noted how each game had the payback choices selected for each denomination as a separate configuration – this is the norm of how slots are configured, so changing things around as far as game or denomination could have an impact. Of course, they don’t share this info so we’ll never know.
As to your question about linked games, they effectively are the same as before, as each game is contributing to the progressive or progressives, and then the ability to win them are still governed by the individual RNG.
So if you’re talking like an example of the All Aboard series machines where you can choose which version you wish to play, each game is still contributing to the progressives and has a mechanism for winning them, so it works just as any other All Aboard from that perspective.
