Some of us have casinos down the street; others travel hours for the pleasure of a casino visit. As such, opinions about hotel rooms vary, especially their importance to making a casino trip enjoyable.

When we polled players on Brian Christopher’s YouTube page, opinions were diverse on the importance of a room, whether in certain situations or at all.
We also asked players on our Flip The Switch Facebook page if a room is important (and especially if a comped room is needed), as well as if it needs to be a luxe room, and we got a variety of answers on the subject:
- I would actually stay in a room even if it wasn’t comped, at the tribal casinos. The artwork and energy of native owned/operated is beautiful. Jill P.
- If it’s in Vegas I like a nice room. I try to get the nicest comped room possible. Jana M.
- The only time I’ve had a comp room was in Las Vegas and it was amazing. Jimmy T.
- We’re in Texas , so the nearest casino is a long drive 😔 so any comped room will do in Louisiana ! Bucket list is Vegas baby! Sophia T.
- I just assumed the only reason casinos had hotels attached was so they could give the rooms away to the gamblers who spend all their money there. Comped rooms should be the norm. Mark B.
- Comp room for sure!! luxe is nice but don’t spend a lot of time in room so not as important to us. Rosemarie K.
- Just a clean comped room. Don’t need much because I don’t really plan on being in there. I’ll be at the casino. April D.
- I’ll only stay if they comp me a room. They know I’ll be paying for it on the floor! Colleen L.
- Locally a comped room is no big deal. In Vegas, they are a must! Free room gives me more $$$ to play with and I tend to play where I stay. Chris G.
- I’m 7star and only gotten reg ole comp rooms, I’m not flashy, ima slot player, I need a 4-5 hour nap and I’m ready to go lol Bear C.
- If it’s more than a hour drive I want to stay, if I gamble that far away I want a comfortable free room lol Dianna W.
- I much prefer a comped room. (Doesn’t everyone?) Especially if they’re smart enough to comp the extort fee…resort fee as well. Mike B.
- If we have comp rooms, it makes it easier for us to plan a weekend getaway. We are at least 4 hours away from a casino. Diana T.
- We just need a place to take a nap.Because we hardly spend any time in the room anyhow. Mike B.
- I plan my trips based on comped rooms…we can usually take a road trip and only pay for the one or two nights in cities where there are not casinos. Kristine K.
- s long as it’s clean, the bed is comfortable, & the shower has both hot water & pressure we good💯 Comped is a plus but it’s not a dealbreaker🤷🏻♀️ Lita L.
- If out of state for multiday stay, its needed for the 4 to 6 hours im actually in the room to eat/sleep. Ursula W.

For us it depends on the time of day we are there. As an older couple we dont like to drive in the dark. Our local casino often invites us to events (usually prize giveaways) and they are often at night. I accept if I can get a comped room. As they have only once not had a room for me we usually go.
I think many can relate to this, Joanne! At a certain point if you plan on staying late enough, a room can be quite helpful.
