Some of us are planners. Others of us go right up to the line. When it comes to casinos, remembering to leave time to cash in those slot tickets is an important one, because they have an expiration date and if you fail to cash in time, that money is forfeited.
But sometimes, time gets away from us. Other times, we check our pocket and find a ticket we totally forgot about. With that in mind, here’s a couple of questions on the topic:
I have a slot machine ticket I could not cash in, as I had to board a flight, how do I collect my winnings?
Kathleen B.
Casinos generally give players an option to be able to send in a ticket and have it cashed via mail. Some tickets will have information on the back. Other times you’ll need to find the information on the casino’s website.
It’s important to check with them the process, as they require other documentation, such as a picture of your photo ID, to cash your ticket. Casinos tend to have cameras pointed at the cage so they have a record of who cashed in what, which is a convenience lost when attempting to conduct the same transaction by mail.

But generally, casinos give some sort of option to do this when you’ve accidentally left town without cashing everything in.
I’ve got a cash out voucher, but I’m not sure if I cashed it out. Is there any way of finding out if I got paid on this ticket.

Casinos almost always take the ticket when they pay you for it, so if you’re in possession of a ticket, the odds are at least pretty good that you never redeemed it.
But that said, their computer systems also keep track of all the tickets, which ones have been redeemed and which ones have not. So you can also check with the casino, and if the ticket hasn’t been cashed out, they can cash it out for you.
If you’re not near the casino, the advice above about checking their website or the back of the ticket, and contacting them for cash-out steps, applies. Just make sure the ticket is still valid, but otherwise the casino will be more than willing to help you out.
