Some slot machines let you choose which game you wish to play. A player was wondering whether the game choice actually matters:
When playing a machine that offers multi games and you have to choose which game you play, would the outcome be the same, no matter which game you had chosen. As the RNG determines the outcome, the game showing would not matter, would it?

Yes, the game choice absolutely matters. And that’s because each game can be configured on its own merits.
Even though the random number generator working inside the machine would work the same regardless of which game is selected, each game has its own range of possibilities.
To offer a simple example, on game 1, outcome 32 could be a losing spin. On game 2, outcome 32 could be the free spins bonus. Which game was active when that outcome was hit will therefore absolutely have an impact on the outcome of that spin.
Keep in mind each game will have its own payback options, and the casino will be able to configure each on their own. It’s likely that each game would have a similar, but not necessarily the exact same, payback percentage selected. Each payback option will have a different array of outcomes.
When thinking about the RNG and selecting and outcome, it’s really just about the process of selecting an outcome. The RNG itself is not saying “this game will pay X,” it’s saying which outcome out of a stack to look at, and that stack of outcomes will differ by game and by payback percentage.
Even on a single machine with multiple games, each game still works as if it’s standing on its own. And because each game is designed differently with payback structured in its own unique way, that’s why the game choice will matter.
