Casinos will often offer slot tournaments as a way to compete for a prize. Some are free to enter, some have a fee, and some are invite only. But what they all have in common is a time-limited race to get the highest score possible.
Players often wonder if there’s any tricks to them:
When playing in a slot tournament, is there anything one can do to get better final results? I see some just pounding the button as fast as they can and others not so much. Any suggestions?

For the most part, the randomness we know from slots as a whole also apply to a slot tournament. Some people will just get line hits others will not. So that slapping and trying to get as many spins completed as possible in the couple of minutes you get is up to chance.
But there are features of certain slot tournaments that can have a skill-based component. For instance, while all slot tournaments will have the slapping button element, some have you popping objects on screen as well.
The design of this can sometimes mean being faster to pop them can carry an advantage, because in certain windows of time another one can appear the moment the last one is popped – so pop faster, and you could see more.
On at least one version of Everi’s Tournevent, a symbol can pop up that can jump you to first place. This can be very helpful if you’ve gotten off to a tough start, and put you where you need to be to claim and maintain a lead.
On IGT’s Spinferno, it too will periodically pop up symbols to pick from. If you see three of the same symbol, it’s a random pick. But if you see three different symbols that are found on the pay table, there is actually a strategy here – pick the best symbol to get the most points.
As you can see, there’s different sorts of things happening on each of the tournament types, so when they sit you down at the machine, and the machine is showing rules or the host is walking you through some of it, try to listen to both.
If you’re able to read up on the tournament type before sitting down, even better, as being a bit prepared could put you ahead if there is indeed some sort of strategic or skill element to the particular version you’re playing.
