There’s a lot of advice from players out there when it comes to using your players card, or not, as more often the advice (incorrectly) suggests. Here’s a great example:
Someone has said not to use your players card on small bets because it lowers your chances of winning. Just wondering on your take on this, as it doesn’t sound right.
Earl P.
Good instincts Earl! Players cards cannot impact the payouts on a slot at all – as we confirmed with IGT late last year, such a feature doesn’t exist.
If you’re normally a low bettor, use your players card to make sure any of your play is recorded – small bets can still add up and lead to free play and other perks, even if they might not be the same sorts of offers big bettors get.
We have here (somewhat controversially, it seems) given out advice that the one time we don’t advise you using your players card is when you’re going to play much less than you normally would. Even as a small bettor, if you bring $100 and play for a couple hours, but plan to at most play for a few minutes and a few dollars one visit, it might be best not to break out the card then.
Why? Because the casinos base your offers off your average, and a low or no play visit to the casino can pull that average down hard. If you go to the casino, accept one or more offers, and play little to none at all, that’s even worse, and some casinos will specifically note in their fine print that your offers could be suspended for lack of play.
So you don’t need to worry much about the payouts, but it does help to be strategic if you’re just going to the casino to grab a bite to eat and then leave, perhaps just playing one slot on the way in or as you head to the parking garage.
