Sometimes, slots implement design aspects that can tip their hand as to what’s going to happen. These can be intentional – like a shaky shaky – or unintentional. We call these Slot Machine Tells, and we’ve got two more examples for you today!
Crazy Rich Asians
This is another Aristocrat game that has a tell based on the lights on the outside of the machine, just like a previous tell we wrote about for Fu Dai Lian Lian. The tell relates to the potential for a Double Up bonus to occur.
On this game, there are coins with values on them on each reel. Landing a coin on each of the first two reels triggers the double up bonus on a regular spin (and sometimes a triple or quadruple up on the bonus, depending on your choice).
Whether in a regular spin or a bonus spin, if a coin drops on the first reel, it will tease you before showing you what’s dropped on the second reel. But the game gives away if it’s going to happen or not before the reel has stopped:
Here you can see that the green lights on the edge of the game turns orange before the second reel drops. That’s the tell you’re going to get the Double Up bonus and win the coins.
The Vault
The Vault is an interesting one because its tell is connected to a deliberate tell. From time to time the game will bring a claw out that will tease the player. Sometimes, the claw will appear and disappear. Other times it will appear and drop coins, meaning something is going to happen.
But before the claw even does its thing, the reels get in the way of what’s going on. If the reels come to a stop while the claw is coming on screen, nothing’s going to happen. However, if the reels keep spinning, then you know something good is going to happen. So the reels give away the tell, in this case, before the claw can tell you!
In this Brian Christopher Slots video you can hear Slot Queen tell Brian he got it – that’s because she noticed the tell – the reels were still spinning as the claw got into place.
Takeaway
So there you have it – two more slot machine tells that give a player a heads up of what’s about to happen.
