Brian Christopher has mentioned Winners Banks in the past, and we even offer them for sale in our shop. But of course not every player is familiar with them:
I have heard people mention “Winners Banks” recently. What exactly are they? How can they be beneficial to a player? What are some popular methods for using one? I’m sure a lot of people would appreciate learning all about these, myself included.

A Winners Bank is a physical device that allows players to put winnings into what is effectively a pocket safe for safekeeping. The idea is to keep the key out of reach while at a casino, so when you put winnings in the device, it will force a player to bring the winnings home with them.
The Value of a Winners Bank
The idea behind the devices is to help players who have a tendency to want to play back their winnings. By having this device, you can increase the chances of bringing cash home with you when you’re having a winning day.
For many players, this ability to come home with cash more often is well worth the investment in getting one, and I know some players who have two, since the devices have a limit of how many bills they can carry.
These are not particularly high tech devices; any Winners Bank key can open any Winners Bank, and you have to have the discipline to leave the key at home so you can’t get into it while at the casino. But for players who need the extra help, it can be an incredible tool.
Ways to Use One
One example of how to use it is putting in the Winners Bank winnings when you cash out ahead on a machine, or get a big bonus. In this way you can continue to play with the original budget, while being sure you walk out with the winnings.
Another is to tuck money away if you’ve been playing for a while, since it can be tempting to keep going for longer than planned and spend more than you need.
In the end it’s about encouraging healthy habits around playing casino games, and making efforts to come home with some money – a reasonable goal when visiting the casino!

I’ve had a winner’s bank for a couple of years now and I call it my best casino buddy. The first time I used it, I came home with $2700. Coupled with not bringing my debit/credit card helps even more. The best part of having this “buddy” I like losing track of how much I’ve put in it so I’m surprised when I get home.
This is a great testimonial of how valuable a Winners Bank can be, Loretta! We love the idea of losing track of what’s in it so you can be surprised about how much you brought home!
I use a similiar method to ensure I come home with money. I break my starting money into $20 bills. I use one 20 at a time. But my betting level is usual minimum or no more then $1.50 a pull. As soon as I accumulate more than double my 20, I cash out and put tag away. I can then use a new 20 on same machine, or go to a new machine. I keep going until I’m out of 20’s (usually 2-300 dollars) and have used my designated initial bank. Then I total up my tags and cash them out and go home, many times with more than my initial bank, but rarely with zero. I must maintain discipline to use my method, but it keeps me playing and having fun for two to three hours. This method works, but you must not cheat on yourself!!
We love in general when a player has a plan, and you certainly do Elaine! We suggest the Winners Bank when it’s simply difficult to avoid that cheating, and we get when players are having a good time they don’t always want to call it a day. So the Winners Bank becomes a helpful tool in those times, but we also love when players stick to their original intent, and it sounds like you’re doing a great job with that!
