The Unicow was introduced as part of a set of special cows that offered power-ups during more recent editions of the game. While most cows offer a single upgrade, the Unicow offers multiple upgrades, each helping enhance the guaranteed bonus you’ll get on a spin where the Unicow is acquired. Given its potency, it’s pretty rare, with appearances being relatively infrequent, and the capture of it even more rare.
The Unicow is triggered when you get a line hit with the Unicow wild cow included in the line hit. It will then award a series of upgrades, such as placing credit prizes on all cows and doubling the amount of spins awarded.
But most importantly, a set of blast upgrades are also awarded – each blast upgrade counts as a cascade, increasing the number of free plays awarded. Blasts are only used when no line hits are present – in this way it allows you to collect all the natural cascades that are available, while also being able to trigger a few additional cascades when none are otherwise available. This helps boost the total number of cascades, and therefore the number of free pays you’ll get.
When you then go into the bonus with a ton of spins, you inevitably are going to get retriggers as well, and enough opportunities to get some decent line hits. It makes for a long and lucrative bonus – no wonder it doesn’t occur all that often.
