More than one-third of all gaming facilities in 2023 are smoke free!
Smoke Free Casinos Near Me
With the number of smoke free casino options growing over time, it can still be a challenge when looking at casino websites to know which properties offer truly smoke free scenarios. After all, many casinos advertise having smoke free spaces, even though they may share space and ventilation with smoking areas.
Some states mandate smoke free gaming facilities, such as in Maryland and Massachusetts. In other cases, state regulations govern commercial casinos, and tribal gaming facilities may have their own rules and regulations separate from the state. It can lead to confusion and complicated information about where to find truly smoke free casino and gaming spaces.
Fortunately, our partners at Breathe Easy with Smokefree Casinos, a project of the ANR Foundation, aim to make it easy for you to know exactly where to look. They declare a very clear definition of what constitutes smoke free, which is “100% smokefree indoor air policies,” so you as a player can ensure the property you are visiting is truly a smoke free gaming facility.
Their website, smokefreecasinos.org, offers a few ways to check what properties near you are smoke free. One is a list, alphabetical by state, that lists every property, more than 1,000 in all as of this writing, that are smoke free. Their list covers all sorts of gaming facilities, including Off-Track Betting, Commercial and Indian/Tribal Casinos, Card Rooms and Jai Alai Fronton, among others, so you also can confirm what sort of gaming may be available there.
Another is a map, which shows the percentage of gaming facilities in a given state that are smoke free. This can be a helpful visual to get started before drilling down to a facility by facility list, so you can see if there are indeed options in your state or nearby.
In either case, they help illustrate the number of options out there, which has grown in recent years – more than one-third of all gaming facilities in 2023 are smoke free!
This includes Las Vegas, which isn’t necessarily known for being friendly to non-smoking players, but yet in recent years has acquired two amazing smoke free options for those who would prefer to avoid the smoke. Click here to learn more about them!

Just looked thru your smoke free casino list. It lists 3 in MN as smoke free and all three now allow smoking, they are Cedar Lakes, Cass Lake MN, Northern Lights in Walker, MN, and White Oak in Deer River MN.
Thanks for the information, Judi! We have passed it on to the list builder for verification and updates. As you can imagine casinos don’t always make a big deal about restoring smoking, so reports like this help them update their database.
I wish New Jersey and pa went smoke free!
So do we! It looks like New Jersey is moving closer to a vote, and Parx in Pennsylvania has fortunately remained smokefree.
I just looked at your list…Barona Casino in San Diego County (Lakeside) is listed as non-smoke free, but it is! It remained smoke free after they reopened from the Covid quarantine! I love going there! When will you come do a group pull down here!?
Hi Marissa – thanks for your patience on an answer! Barona is not included on the list because it maintains an indoor smoking room that is to our knowledge also not air separated, meaning smoke can drift into non-smoking spaces. Studies have shown that even when smoking is isolated to one area indoors, the air in non-smoking areas can still be quite bad because the particles are able to drift throughout the indoor space.

Thanks Jason – it does seem like many of the New England casinos have already gotten there!
