A common feature at most casinos is the high limit room, a cordoned off place to be able to play higher limit machines without being under the watchful eye of others in the casino. One player wonders if there’s limitations:
Can anyone play in the High Limit rooms?
Geri L.
For the most part, the answer is yes. In nearly every instance, anyone can walk in and play a high limit machine, presuming the budget allows.
That said, we have encountered a couple of instances where a casino required a higher level card to play. In one instance, this was one of multiple high limit rooms in the casino, which a couple of casinos with multiple high limit rooms have done to allow their biggest bettors a more private place to play.
In one instance we encountered a casino that had updated its rules after allowing anyone to only allow higher limit cards. In their case, it was the only private high limit room they had, so if you were a lower tiered card you were pretty much out of luck.
That said, many casinos have higher denomination machines near, but outside, the high limit room. Generally up to $1 denomination is frequently available outside the high limit room, not counting multi-denomination machines that can go higher, and some casinos have even higher denominations available outside the high limit room.
So that doesn’t mean you can’t play high denomination slots if you’re at one of those rare casinos that have a restriction, but if you’re looking to take a swing in the high limit room, most casinos won’t have an issue with that.
And for those reading this who are a lower budget player looking to find games you can play while in the high limit room, we have a few we recommend as well that can let you play even when funds don’t allow for the bigger bets!

Ocean in Atlantic City restricts High Limit Room to those in the top card category.
Thanks for that intel, Sonia! It’s been awhile since we were there and at the time they didn’t have that restriction (they didn’t have the new high limit room back then, in fact).
