In previous conversations here and on our Flip The Switch Facebook page, we’ve talked about the idea of being able to get hotel rooms as part of casino offers. Some players have shared that it can be a struggle:
Free rooms: I have spent a lot of money. Never have they ever sent me a free room?

There can be various reasons for this. Here’s a few examples, and we’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

You Don’t Spend Enough Per Visit
This is one that we aim to highlight for many players. Just because you spend a lot of money over time doesn’t mean the casino looks at that money the way you do.
Players who go three times a week and spend $100 may be spending over $1,000 a month, but to the casino, they see those players as $100/visit or $100/day players. And oftentimes casino hotel rooms need more than that amount of expected loss to warrant a comped hotel room.
You Go Too Often
Players who go too often might also find a higher threshold for getting comped rooms because the casino thinks they may want to stay as often as they go. Players who go only occasionally with bigger budgets are going to be more attractive to the casino than those there all the time, as the occasional player is one they want to recruit to visit more often.
A player who goes less often and spends more is simply more attractive – that same $1,000 budget looks very different in a player who only goes once a month. They only potentially require one room night, and they make a lot more money for giving up that room night, compared to the 3x a week $100 player.
You Live Too Close
Sometimes casinos will factor in distance in their offers, being more generous with room comps for those who they know will have a longer trip in. Those players are more likely to appreciate an overnight stay given the drive, flight, etc. over someone who lives less than an hour away.
Even players who play enough to justify comps may see their offers tilted more in favor of other locals perks like food, gifts or free play than rooms, vs. those who live farther away perhaps seeing less gifts and more rooms to make up for it.
The Size of the Hotel
Yaamava added a hotel to their line-up a couple of years ago, but it’s a small hotel, and a luxury one, so the chances of getting comped rooms there are much lower than a Vegas casino with thousands of rooms.
Sometimes, getting a room comp is just awfully difficult because there aren’t that many rooms to go around to begin with.
Takeaway
While room comps are a core part of many casinos’ offerings for players, what qualifies a player for one will differ based on a variety of factors. Some, like your per trip or per day budget, are within your control, while others, like the size of the hotel, are just how things are.
