Those that watch Brian Christopher’s videos will sometimes spot differences in how jackpots are handled for him vs. at home. Here’s an example:
When I win a jackpot, they reset the machine when they pay me. They don’t with you. Why?
Nancy C.
There can be a variety of reasons for this. Let’s review a few.
Casino Policy
Each casino has what are known as “house rules” for players, but there’s also internal policies to follow, and sometimes the regulations of a certain location’s gaming commission. When a casino is owned by a larger corporation, the policies may even be set at a higher level, tweaked to ensure regulatory compliance.
The policies are set up in a way that the process is done the same way each time – this avoids the risk of mistakes, and ensures that all steps are taken. We’ve seen this at times where slot attendants will tell us they can’t unlock the machine until after the paperwork’s done, for instance.
You might notice Brian moving to another machine during live streams where there’s no opportunity to edit out the wait, whereas in videos he can cut right back to the action. So this is an example of why this may be the case.
Self Pay, or Fast Pay, is Employed
When you claim a jackpot through self pay, or fast pay, it’s handled differently than a traditional jackpot process as the money is put back into the machine as a credit balance, as opposed to someone bringing out the money from the cashier area.
This means effectively Brian’s able to reset it himself when he’s at a casino that offers this, and has activated it for that particular visit. But some casinos only offer this in the high limit room, and some not at all, so this is only sometimes able to be deployed.
The Slot Doesn’t Allow It
Some slots are just old enough that they work differently, and on occasion we trip across one of these. They could require a handpay at under the normal limit, for instance, or not work with some of the more modern options.
This is another thing that will drive old slots out of the casino when new tech can’t work with them (although this happens less often than you might think).
Takeaway
This is just another example of how the same business with the same general options can run differently – whether be it location, company policy or some technological reason. But generally speaking, players will ultimately reach the same finish line – getting paid for a nice win!
