The best golfers in the world descend on Aronimink Golf Club for the 2026 PGA Championship this weekend. As usual, Scottie Scheffler remains the odds-on favorite to claim the second PGA Championship victory of his career, but there will be no shortage of contenders looking to vault to the top of this weekend’s event.
We’ve seen a few golfers shoot up the odds board, looking to capitalize on a wave of early-season momentum. Today, we’re perusing some of the longer odds to see where the betting value lies and where the money is flowing.
Ludvig Aberg (+1800)
Undoubtedly, Ludvig Aberg has become one of the most sharped-backed bettors for the PGA’s second major. The Swedish golfer is hovering around the +2000 mark; however, a recent downward trajectory could continue if Aberg performs as expected at the PGA Championship.
So far, Aberg is collecting a respectable 4.3% ticket count, albeit with a disproportionate 7.2% of the betting handle. Inherent in those splits are some large money wagers, expecting Aberg to capture the first major of his career. Accordingly, BetMGM has moved him from +2200 to +1800 ahead of tomorrow’s tee off.
Historically, Aberg’s worst performances have come at the PGA Tour. He was cut from the 2024 event, shooting even par through two rounds. He looked even worse last year, carding a +3 and again missing the cut.
Despite his struggles at the PGA Championship, Aberg’s game is well suited for Aronimink Golf Club. He ranks third in Strokes Gained on the tour, packaging accurate tee shots with an elite mid-range game. Aronimink Golf Club plays longer and will reward golfers for length and accuracy off the tee. More importantly, golfers who make up strokes on their approach to the green will perform best.
The betting momentum is clear, Ludvig Aberg is a legitimate contender at the 2026 PGA Championship, and he should be in the running on Sunday.
Brooks Koepka (+4500)
It’s been a few years since Brooks Koepka last stood atop the golfing world. A three-time winner at the PGA Championship and a five-time major winner, Koepka is eight years removed from his peak form. Nevertheless, bettors are happy to get a piece of the American at this weekend’s event.
Curiously, Koepka’s betting price has moved up from the opening number, despite an influx of sharp-backed cash. The American opened as a +4000 longshot but BetMGM has employed some reverse line movement to entice bettors at an even more tempting +4500. Clearly, the sportsbook isn’t worried about their exposure, as Koepka’s 5.6% betting handle exceeds his 3.6% ticket count.
Practically, Koepka’s success depends on his mid-range game. He is the top-ranked golfer on the PGA Tour in terms of Strokes Gained: Approach to Green; however, his unrefined putting approach has been a limiting factor in his success. Sticking the ball close to the pin with his irons will be crucial to avoid giving up strokes once he’s on the putting surface.
Koepka’s driving distance will play well at Aronimink. He averages north of 310 yards per drive, but he will need to ensure accuracy to give his irons a chance to make the green on the long an undulating course.
The betting public has lost sight of Kopeka, but sharp bettors have keyed on in the American ahead of the 2026 PGA Championship. If his drives stay on the fairway and he minimizes putting mistakes, Koepka could claim his first major championship in three years.
Robert MacIntyre (+5500)
Robert MacIntyre’s betting splits are less pronounced than the two aforementioned golfers. Still, his betting value is undeniable. The Scottish contender has moved from +8000 to +6000, and currently resides at +5500 ahead of his 1:43 pm Thursday afternoon tee time.
While he only has two PGA Tour wins to his name, MacIntyre typically reserves his best golf for the biggest tournaments. He has a T-12 or better finish in every major tournament, including at eighth-place finish at the 2024 PGA Championship.
MacIntyre’s driving game should keep him in contention throughout the weekend. One of the best golfers off the tee, he ranks 11th in the PGA on Strokes Gained from the box. Combined with his elite putting game, sixth in Strokes Gained, MacIntyre could offset some of his mid-range shortcomings on the green.
While he has just 0.8% of the ticket count, MacIntyre has collected a slightly more impressive 1.0% of the betting handle. Moreover, BetMGM continues to limit their exposure on the Scotland national, moving his odds down significantly from opening.
Count us as believers in Robert MacIntyre. We’re betting this price continues to drop ahead of this weekend’s action.
