Classic Konami slot games like China Shores feature the ability to get hundreds of free spins in the trigger – up to 450 – and the ability to retrigger for hundreds more. But after you trigger the bonus, they show a picking screen. Do you want the spins, or do you want a credit prize instead?
Hello, I received 450 free spins on the China Shores slot. I opted for the spins instead of the cash option of between $18 to $5,000. I was playing pennies and I had the minimum of .30 bet. Most of the free spins were wasted and paid nothing. I ended up with 130.00. I think I should have taken the money. What do you think?

Well, we’ll never know for sure, since we don’t know what the other outcome would have been. The minimum win on the credits choice was 60x and you got more than 400x, so you certainly outperformed the minimum on the credit prize range by a multiple.
The thing to remember around China Shores is that it can give a lot of games, and the dead spins are part of the flip side of that. You get a really long bonus if you want it. Or, you can circumvent the bonus and opt for the credits.
Both are random outcomes, so it’s not like you would get the same bonus either way. One uses the RNG for the free spins, the other to determine your prize. You can assume the odds of a smaller prize on the credit choice is a higher percentage than the odds of a bigger prize.
We venture your free spins was pretty spot on average, and you’d be equally likely to do better or worse with the credit pick accordingly. But for those of you who love to play games like this, do you agree? What would you do?

I think you overlooked something . By taking the free spins, the game played on at no cost to the player for quite a while. Had the cash option been selected, the cash prize (unknown amount) would have been awarded and less than a minute later the players cash would have been being wagered.
Just as an.example, 450 spins had to take at least 20-30 minutes, and the outcome at 30 minutes was a + $160. In the same 30 minutes, how much could have been spun and money lost. (450×30¢= -$135, tho a few wins along those spins should have occurred) Even if the cash option had paid an initial $200, the player would only be ahead by about $60,
That’s a really good point Jim – what’s the cost of racing past the bonus vs. letting a very long one play out? That’s definitely a fair consideration, even if on the surface it looks like you might win a bit less.
