Does being in a busier area of the casino mean anything for you as a player? That’s what today’s player wants to know:
Do machines pay out more if there are other people playing like games in the area versus playing a machine with like machines in the area that no one is playing?
Kiana N.
It may feel like being in a busier area is lucky, but statistically your chances of winning will be the exact same.
When you’re in a busier part of the casino, you’re more apt to hear bonuses, big wins and the like, but that’s simply because there’s more people around you playing.

Each player’s chances haven’t improved, but numerically because more people are playing, more people will be winning. Of course, more people will be losing, too.
One aspect around the random number generator that some players don’t realize is that each machine is in its own island. The outcomes available, and the numbers being generated, are self contained to an individual machine.
That means no matter how many people are winning around you, your chances are exactly the same, as their success (or failure) has no impact on yours.
However, some players just plain feel luckier or more energized in a busier area of the casino floor where more excitement is going on. And if that’s you, take advantage of that energy and enjoy!
The good news is it is a neutral choice, so you can do what is most fun for you, and given it’s supposed to be entertainment, why not?
So no, machines don’t pay out more because more people are playing, at least as a percentage of the amount they’ll pay back over time. That’s set by the casino, by machine, and tends to stay that way for months or years. But numerically, because more people are playing, you’ll see more wins – and more losses.

I always see banks of machines with no players and it makes me wonder why?? Sometimes I’ll sit down at one and it seems like other people eventually do too. But I can’t say that I’m winning either in crowded areas or empty areas!!
It is a funny scenario, right? Sit at a bank that had been empty for awhile, but once you start playing, it’s almost like it draws others in to play too! Here’s hoping your next trip is a winning one, Mary!
