Picking the slot machine for you can involve all sorts of things – themes, gameplay, or sometimes, progressives, which leads us to today’s question:
When there are linked slot machines together, say in a row or quad which machine would you pick to play at? Play the machine with the higher major? That is my strategy usually.

You’re thinking along the same lines we would, Pamela – all else being equal, if you have a choice between two machines and one has a higher progressive than the other, you should pick the machine with the higher progressive. That way, if you do happen to win it, you’ll win the most you could have for that prize.
Not all machines have linked progressives that can also have differing progressives, but you’ll often see it on link style games, where the Grand progressive is linked while the Major is not. But sometimes machines that are traditionally linked together won’t be linked at all, so even when we’re used to seeing games linked together, doing a quick check isn’t the worst idea.
Sometimes when this happens you might have a scenario where one machine has a much bigger Grand, while the other has a much bigger Major. There, it’s more of a decision; we like to choose the one with the bigger Major because it’s more likely to hit than the Grand. But we also understand and respect those who ultimately want to play for the bigger Grand too.
Keep in mind looking for the best progressives don’t have to be limited to checking one linked bank of machines. With so many linked machine types nowadays, it could be just hunting for good progressive opportunities throughout the floor and putting some extra play towards those in case it’s your time to win one!
