Slot makers often take a game and release multiple themes for it, dubbed clones, as a way of trying to maximize efforts off the back of heavy development work on a concept. Sometimes, clones are done to hopefully find a hit within the market, such a game getting an Asian-themed variation to attract players who enjoy those themes. Other times, a successful game is rethemed. Slots for Dummies is an example of the latter.
But oh my, what a clever concept for a retheme. Slots for Dummies is a clone of Everi’s Cash Machine, a very simple and straightforward slot with three reels and no bonuses like free spins – just quick fire respin features. If the “for Dummies” brand sounds familiar, most of us are familiar with the book series that started on topics around tech and then expanded to just about everything.
Here, the concept of a simple slot being married to a get started series is absolutely brilliant. Definitions and basic slot terms periodically appear above the reels, and the gameplay remains simple.
Base Game
Following the lead of Cash Machine, Slots for Dummies has three reels and three betting options:
- 1 credit: 1 reel unlocked
- 5 credits: 2 reels unlocked
- 10 credits: all 3 reels unlocked
The reels consist of numbers. Land one or more numbers on the reels, and you “win what you see,” reading the numbers across to determine your win in credits.
Each reel has a certain set of numbers available to land:
- Reel 1: 1, 2, 5 and 10
- Reel 2: 0 and 5
- Reel 3: 0, 00 and 5
Any spin where you only land one or more 0s will trigger a respin; some winning spins also can trigger a respin
Zero Respin
One more more 0s will trigger a 0 respin, where the other reels without numbers can respin to attempt to land a number. Should another 0/00 land, another respin will occur for the first reel to attempt to offer a winning number.
Purple Respin
Randomly on any winning spin, a Purple Respin can occur, triggering a respin that guarantees a larger win than what was originally secured.
