There was a time when Everi was known for being a frequently lower volatility slot company. More recently, they’ve been developing games that have bigger swings, which of course also means the opportunity for bigger wins! Fire Lion is a great example of this, with two themes, Prosperity Queen and Prosperity King, that each feature a unique free spins experience.
Both themes share a hold & spin bonus that includes the chance to trigger a more open-ended nested bonus with a chance for a special progressive jackpot. And both feature a game setup with higher volatility, great for slot players who seek this sort of experience.
Let’s dive into what makes Fire Lion special, and the unique aspects of each theme in the series.
Base Game
The Fire Lion series features a 5×3 reel set and offer player selectable multi-denomination, from 1¢ to $2. The number of lines active depends on your denomination – while the 1¢ & 2¢ have 50 lines, higher denominations have 5 lines.
There’s nine core pay table symbols, five of which are royal symbols and four are premium symbols. Wilds are also on the reels to assist in lining up symbols for line hits.
There are also orbs, which are what get you into the Hold & Spin bonus. Like other games of this sort of format, they serve as line hit blockers until they don’t, thanks to their opening the door to a potentially lucrative Hold & Spin bonus.
There are five jackpots on offer. Two are static jackpots that are linked to the denomination. The other three are progressives available across all bets. The Major progressive jackpot (like the Mini and Minor) can appear on orbs, while the Grand and Fire Lion progressive jackpots have specific awarding scenarios as part of the Hold & Spin and Fire Lion bonuses, respectively.
Hold & Spin Bonus
Six or more orbs is how you trigger the bonus, and the core structure is familiar. Orbs contain primarily credit prizes and jackpots (Mini, Minor or Major). You get three spins to land another orb.
Successfully do so, and the spin counter resets to three. Go three spins without an orb, or fill all 15 spaces with orbs, and the bonus concludes. All prizes are awarded and if you successfully fill all spaces, you also win the Grand progressive jackpot.
The additional upside here is the opportunity to win a nested bonus, which occurs when a lion head orb lands. In that scenario, a bonus within the bonus is triggered, the Fire Lion bonus.
Fire Lion Bonus
In the Fire Lion bonus, a special 5×1 reel appears above the hold & spin reels. Each spin, landing one or more orbs in the Fire Lion reel awards the credit value on any orbs that landed, plus another spin. With dozens of Fire Lion Bonus spins possible at any bet level, this has real potential! The Fire Lion bonus concludes when a spin occurs without any orbs landing.
But even more, there’s the opportunity to land the Gold Lion. Doing so awards the Fire Lion progressive jackpot, on top of any prizes landed and collected during the Fire Lion bonus.
Free Spins
Each theme of the Fire Lion series has its own unique feature when it comes to the Free Spins, but both start with a credit prize and six free spins.
- Prosperity King utilizes a Reel Match mechanic, where 2-5 reels on each spin will mirror one another, increasing the chance of line hits or triggering a bonus in the bonus with a Hold & Spin Bonus if enough orbs appear.
- Prosperity Queen features mystery doors, which can open and reveal any pay table symbol or orbs, enough of which will trigger the Hold & Spin bonus.
