Before you take on the casino classic from the comfort of your own home (or wherever you play) read through the basics to make sure you remember just how it plays and pays.
Base Game
Lightning Link is a multi-line that pays from left to right. Online, the slot classic is available at a variety of denominations, and similar to the versions in physical casinos, the number of lines depends on the denomination you choose.
It starts off with .01 replicating pennies, then 0.02 or two cents, with both of those denominations featuring 50 lines. The next tier highlights 0.05 or nickels, .10 or dimes, with a 25-line count available. Finally, there’s the high stakes, with two denominations featuring a 5-line game. You can choose to take Lightning Link High Stakes for a spin at 1, to equal a dollar per line, or two for two dollars per line.
Once you have your bet locked in, it’s time to get some line hits! The highest paying symbol is the roulette wheel, five of those table game symbols will earn you 150 credits. That is followed by the show girl who is worth 100 if you land five of them on a payline. Following the show girl, we have the yellow sports car and hand of cards, both worth the same- 100 for five on a line. After the Vegas inspired symbols, the game presents the standard royals. Five Ks is worth 75; five Qs pays 50, as do five of the Js, 10s, and 9s. During the base game, five of the scatters will pay 100. We’ll cover exactly what those scatters do below.
Line hits get some help thanks to the inclusion of a wild symbol depicted as the iconic Las Vegas welcome sign. The wilds substitute for all symbols with the exception of the scatters or chips.
Hold & Spin Feature
Just like in the casino, you need to land at least six of the chips to trigger the Hold & Spin bonus. Once you land the required number of chips, you’ll start the feature off with three spins.
Every time that you land a chip, your spins reset to three. When all spins are exhausted, all values from the chips are collected. During the spins, you are able to win the progressive and fixed jackpot amounts listed at the top of your screen. You do this by landing a chip that says “Mini,” Minor,” or “Major.” You can win the Grand Jackpot by collecting 15 chips and filling the board.
The Grand and Major are progressives. These prizes are linked to all players, and your chances of winning them increase proportionally with your bet size. The Mini and Minor, on the other hand, are a fixed amount within each bet level of a denomination, just like the Lightning Link slots on casino floors.
Free Games Feature
If Free Games are what you’re after, you are hoping to land at least three of the golden brief cases. These golden brief cases are shown on a bright purple and pink background, and can appear on any of the reels. This means that you can land up to five of the prized symbols.
You start the free games feature, regardless of how the number of brief cases you have collected, with six free games. During this feature, reels two, three, and four are shown as one giant symbol. If you are lucky enough to land a giant brief case, just like the one that triggered the feature, you’ll earn an additional three free games.
In addition to scoring additional free spins, you can also trigger the Hold & Spin feature. You do this by landing the giant chip on reels that super-sized center reel.
