Base Game
Before we jump into some of the more unique features of the game, it’s important to first understand the basics of the game. Scarab is a 75 line game available at bets ranging from 75 cents all the way up to $375 per spin.
When it comes to how much the game pays, the woman that is wearing a scarab crown and necklace is the top symbol. Landing five of her on a payline, from left to right, results in a win of 200x your base bet. The regal woman is followed by some Egyptian themed symbols with different colored backgrounds.
The red and blue backgrounds will pay 75x your base bet for five matching symbols on a line. The purple, green, turquoise, and gold will bestow wins worth slightly less, as five matching icons are worth 60x your bet. The themed symbols are rounded out by some members of the royal court, A, K, Q, J, and 10. These royal symbols pay the least, as five will snag you 30x your bet.
“Wild Stays Charges Then Pays”
Now for those more unique features. Scarab features a type of game play called “Wild Stays Charges Then Pays.” Game rounds are essentially played in sets of ten spins.
During spins one through nine you are hoping to land tons of the red, blue, and gold scarabs. Once they land on your screen, these bejeweled beetles will transform into wilds on the tenth spin. You can keep track of where they have landed by looking for the golden borders they leave behind. It’s also easy to tell what number spin you are currently on within the set. On the top right portion of your screen you will see a spin counter that logs each paid spin. After the tenth spin, it resets back to one and the game resets with zero scarabs on the board.
Physical Casino Fun Fact: This title might be familiar to some brick and mortar casino players, Scarab has been on the casino floor for a decent amount of time. Some advantage players have been known to take a look at just how many scarabs have been collected if another player leaves mid round, as the collected amount doesn’t disappear if someone cashes out an leaves, something known as true persistence. If someone leaves with a ton of golden borders laying around mid-set, the advantage player is betting on more landing and hoping for a nice payout come spin 10.
Free Games
In addition to the wild scarab action, this Egyptian themed title also features a free spin bonus. In order to trigger the free games feature, you need to land at least three of the pyramid symbols that say “bonus” in blue lettering. These symbols can land on any of the reels.
Once the bonus is triggered, you will be presented with three bonus options to choose from, which effectively works as a volatility choice for the bonus.
- If you get the standard three bonus symbols, you can pick between 15 free spins with five wild symbols added, 10 free spins with seven wilds added, or five spins with 10 random wilds added.
- Four bonus symbols will give you the choice between 30 spins with five wilds added, 20 spins with seven added, or 10 spins with 10 wilds added.
