On July 22, 2026, against what seemed like all odds just two months earlier, Primm Valley Resort in Primm, Nevada, reopened. Primm, an unincorporated town along Interstate 15 at the California-Nevada state line. was destined to become Nevada’s newest ghost town after Affinity Gaming announced that it would abandon the market and cease all operations by July 4, 2026.
The last open casino, a gas station, a California Lottery store, a truck stop, and two fast-food restaurants were closing. Hundreds of jobs were disappearing. The town’s only apartment complex, which houses area employees, was closing. Had no company bailed Primm out, the area would have become uninhabited.
The Primm family announced in June that the market would not permanently close. Terrible’s would take it over in early July. It only took a day to reopen most non-gaming businesses. Primm Valley Resort reopened 17 days after Terrible’s got the keys.
Primm Valley Resort opened just after noon, after a short press conference in which the Primm family and Terrible’s executives spoke about their desire to save hundreds of jobs in town.
Primm Valley Resort reopened with 422 slot machines, a quick-serve restaurant, 250 hotel rooms, a William Hill sportsbook, and the Bonnie & Clyde exhibit, which has been in Primm for decades.
At reopening, Primm Valley Resort offered slots, video poker, electronic table games, and a sportsbook. Live table games are not available.
The property reopened with all reset jackpot meters. Affinity Gaming, the previous operator, gave away almost $900,000 in progressives in the weeks before it ceased operations at Primm.
Changes Are Only Noticeable to Regulars
A Primm visitor from June 30, when Affinity Gaming ceased operations, would notice few changes after the initial reopening. Most of the improvements were behind the scenes. Employees and management gave the property a deep clean, including the parking lots, restaurants, hotel rooms, and casino floor. The slots, electronic table games, and video poker machines were mostly in the same places as before. Even the pay tables remained the same.
William Hill returned as the sportsbook operator in the same place it left on May 31. The televisions and seats are in the same spots.
The handful of live table games that never opened near the cage disappeared. That part of the casino floor is empty. Terrible’s put up a wall between the casino and outlet mall, which is down to one tenant. Under Affinity, this area was wide open. Some of it was used for slot tournaments. It was taped off past that point, but guests could see into the vacant mall.
Free $20 in Slot Play and Tier Matching
All players receive $20 in free slot play just for signing up for the new players card. The previous A Play card is no longer used. However, the new operator will honor all tier levels of those players. The second-highest tier receives double slot points. The highest receives triple. All veterans automatically enter the second-highest tier.
Games Offered by Primm
Most of the 422 machines are modern slot titles and series. Old-style reels are available near the cage, including ones themed after Bonnie & Clyde, which are steps from the display. Denominations for modern video slots start at pennies and go up to $2. The Bonnie & Clyde slots are $0.25. Most other reels are $1, with a few $5 and $10 ones.
Video poker is available at both bars. The sportsbook bar is open 24 hours a day. The best bar video poker game is $1 9/6 Double Double Bonus (98.98%). The same paytable is also available on the casino floor in $5 and $10 denominations near the Bonnie & Clyde cars. Two Aristocrat bartop machines offer keno and slot titles like Buffalo.
A bank of electronic table games is near the restaurant. It offers bubble craps, bubble crapless craps, video 6:5 blackjack, Megamania Super Spin (Big Wheel), and Dual Wheel Roulette with two zeros. The minimum bet is $3, except $1 on Megamania Super Spin.
Next Primm Valley Resort Plans
Terrible’s plans to add two new restaurants and a coffee bar. One restaurant will be a 24-hour full-service diner. The other will be a steakhouse. While both concepts existed under Affinity Gaming when it operated Primm Valley Resort, the diner will be in the former Primm & Proper space, as the current quick-serve spot is where the Bonnie & Clyde Diner was. That space was used as a buffet in Primm’s better days.
About 60% of Primm Valley’s hotel rooms are not up to Terrible’s standards. As demand warrants, damaged rooms will be repaired and remodeled before coming to market. The current 250 rooms on the market are in good condition, especially for the price of $59 during the week and $79 on weekends, with no resort fee. Terrible’s decided to make removing the resort fee part of the relaunch. Nearly 400 Primm Valley Resort hotel rooms are out of service.
Buffalo Bill’s and Whiskey Pete’s Are Still Closed
Terrible’s also acquired the operating rights to Buffalo Bill’s and Whiskey Pete’s, the other two Primm casinos. Both were closed when Affinity Gaming ceased Primm operations. Both remain closed, except for a small slots room in the truck stop neighboring Whiskey Pete’s that operates on the same license.
Short-term plans include bringing concerts back to Buffalo Bill’s. It hosts the 6,500-seat Star of the Desert Arena. The casino floor at Buffalo Bill’s is ready to reopen, should demand warrant it. On the other hand, the hotel needs a major renovation.
Buffalo Bill’s originally closed in July 2025. It opened briefly on concert weekends and other special events.
Buffalo Bill’s was once home to Desperado, the fastest and tallest roller coaster in the world when it opened in 1994. It has not operated since 2019. The ride requires repairs to run again. Terrible’s hopes to bring it back to its original glory, but that is not in the short-term plans. The log ride is fully operational and could reopen with little work required. The Frog Hopper and drop tower once on the property were sold.
Whiskey Pete’s closed in December 2024. Its hotel has major infrastructure issues. Affinity Gaming was in the process of reopening a handful of rooms for the truck stop when its closure announcement came. If anything happens at Whiskey Pete’s beyond that, it would mean Primm’s revitalization is going well, as it is not a priority.
