We are nearly a month into the 2026 MLB and we’re starting to see the best and the worst that every team has to offer. It’s been a competitive start to the season, with every division crowded with contenders looking to pull away from the pack.
That’s analogous to Tuesday’s schedule, with most teams hoping to level their week-opening matchups, with others already going for the series win.
We’re here for all of it, breaking down the MLB action with our daily betting guide and best bets for April 21, 2026!
Cincinnati Reds vs Tampa Bay Rays
Spread: CIN -1.5 (+150) | TB +1.5 (-180)
Moneyline: CIN -115 | TB -105
Total: 7.5 Over (-110) | Under (-110)
The Cincinnati Reds may be one of the worst-hitting teams in the majors, but that’s not preventing them from coming up big when it matters most. Cincinnati ranks 29th in team OPS, relying on timely hitting and elite pitching to stake itself to an NL Central best 15-8 record. We’re anticipating more of the same in Tuesday’s clash versus the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Reds hand the ball to Chase Burns tonight, expecting the young righty to continue his early-season dominance. In four starts, Burns has a tidy 2.42 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 8.9 K/9 rate. More importantly, his analytics profile points toward sustained success. Burns sits on the top end of the spectrum in average exit velocity, whiff, and Chase rates. That will serve him well against a Rays team that relies on contact to score runs.
At the same time, Steven Matz will be up to the task against an inferior Reds’ lineup. The journeyman pitcher has had a renaissance since landing in Tampa, holding opponents to 1.03 walks and hits per inning pitched with a virtually identical 8.9 K/9 rate.
Runs will be at a premium at Tropicana Field. Chase Burns should continue his hot start to the campaign, and we don’t trust the Reds’ hitters to put much distance between themselves and their hosts. All signs point to the under in this one.
Picks: Under 7.5
Toronto Blue Jays vs Los Angeles Angels
Spread: TOR -1.5 (+165) | LAA +1.5 (-200)
Moneyline: TOR -105 | LAA -115
Total: 9.5 Over (+110) | Under (-130)
The Toronto Blue Jays play the second of three games against the Los Angeles Angels, looking to build off their series-opening win on Monday night. Pitching has been an issue for the defending AL Champs, but we don’t think that will matter in tonight’s inter-divisional showdown.
The Jays have been swinging hot sticks of late. They put up five runs on eight hits on Monday night, building off their 10-run 14-hit outburst to close out their weekend set versus the D-Backs. With Jack Kochanowicz on the bump, we should see more of the same.
The Angels’ probable starter is off to a 2-0 start to the season; however, there are several noticeable concerns in his underlying metrics. Kochanowicz sits in the bottom 29% of pitchers in barrel rate, contributing to a ghastly 5.02 expected ERA. We’re predicting a few rough outings for Kochanowicz, as actual metrics balance with a expected.
The Jays are undeserving underdogs in this one. Toronto’s bats should continue their assault against a regression-bound Jack Kochanowicz. Blue Jays moneyline is the play.
Picks: Blue Jays -105
New York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox
Spread: NYY -1.5 (+170) | BOS +1.5 (-215)
Moneyline: NYY +105 | BOS -115
Total: 8.5 Over (-105) | Under (-115)
Few rivalries match the intensity of the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. One of the long-standing rivalries in any sport, we’re anticipating more fireworks when these AL East foes take to the field on Tuesday night.
The Yankees are fresh off a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals, extending their run of elite offensive play. New York ranks tops sixth in the MLB in OPS, jumping over 150 points over the past week. Heading into tonight’s series opener, the Bronx Bombers have a hefty .898 OPS, the second-highest mark in the bigs over that stretch.
The Red Sox are enjoying more modest success at the plate these days, but we’re predicting a massive swing in fortunes at home. The Yankees trot out Luis Gil to the mound, who has struggled mightily in his return to big league action. In two starts, Gil has an inflated 7.00 ERA, while giving up four homers in just 9.0 innings pitched. In the hitter-friendly confines of Fenway Park, Gil is set to struggle.
Runs should come early and often in this one. The Yankees are one of the hottest-hitting teams in the MLB, and Luis Gil will struggle to contain the Red Sox bats. In the end, this one should soar over the posted total.
Picks: Over 8.5
