With the advent of multi-denomination machines, some players have taken to bouncing around the various denominations and bets, seeking what they feel is the winning place to be. Here’s an example of a question around this we’ve received:
If the machine is not hitting, should you just change your bet or denomination to see if that will change anything?
Laura
You could – and it might change something, or might not. And we’ll never really know what exactly changed.
You see, you never really know if you’re getting a better, worse or same outcome than if you had just continued forward without changing anything. The same goes when you “change up your timing.”
That said, there’s no harm in it either. You’re not going to “shake the game” out of a cycle or anything, as there’s no cycle to shake it out of. Your odds on any given spin will remain the same.

The Random Number Generator, or RNG, chugs along constantly, cycling through hundreds or thousands of numbers every single second, regardless of when you push the button, so as far as the RNG is concerned it’s just waiting for your next spin.
The biggest impact changing denominations might have is changing the number of lines you’re playing – more lines can mean more frequent wins, but smaller ones since the bet has to be spread out across those additional lines. Conversely, less lines may reduce the chances of winning, but pay more on each line where symbols line up.
Secondarily you could have a slightly better payback over time on a higher denomination wager, and conversely slightly worse payback on a lower denomination wager, but that is achieved over the long term, and will be not obvious in a single session due to the variance that can occur.
So it’s up to you really – changing things up is a personal decision, and if it makes you feel better, go for it! Just know that from a practical perspective, it’s neutral on whether it will actually do anything – it might, or it might not, but the overall odds of something happening will be about the same on either bet level/denomination.

When playing on a bingo type slot machine. Does changing your bet change if you get the free spins or not. Is there no number generator at all for a bingo machine. Therefore would it not matter if you changed your bet?
The number generator is effectively the game of bingo. There isn’t one monolithic way Bingo works when it comes to Bingo machines, so there’s no guarantee that things would be identical if you changed your bet – on certain machines the outcome likely would be the same, while on others it might not be. This isn’t all that different from traditional slots either – some it would be the same outcome, some it wouldn’t.
