Most of the time, when you get a bonus on a slot machine, it will await your pressing of a button to start the bonus. In some cases, like Hold & Spin bonuses, you have to be an active participant, pressing the button for every spin. How patient will a slot be?
When you get a bonus, and it tells you to press start to begin, will it wait as long as you don’t push start?

There’s no one right answer here – different manufacturers have different strategies. One thing we recall seeing on Incredible Technologies games in particular is a countdown clock that tells you how long it will wait to start a bonus.
So there’s definitely slots out there that have a time limit before moving ahead with the bonus, with your ability to start the bonus sooner by pressing the button.
But there’s also definitely slots on the casino floor that will not start the bonus until you press. Sometimes this is because your pressing the button has an impact on the bonus, such as pressing spin on a Wheel of Fortune game to spin the wheel.
So it will vary, and we’ve definitely seen examples of slots where bonuses can sit for varying lengths of time without anything happening. That’s certainly helpful if you want to call someone over to see your bonus, and then you can start it when everyone’s there to witness your outcome.
Whether that button push determines the outcome of the bonus will vary by game design (some games have predetermined bonuses while other have true bonuses that also rely on the RNG to determine the outcomes), but whether you have to push the button or not isn’t even a guarantee of which version is in play – we’ve seen lots of permutations over the years.
And just to cover all the bases, online slots usually have a cutoff point to resolve unfinished bonuses (since you could lose internet or be disconnected for a long period). Usually those windows will be within 24-72 hours, so if you can’t get back into the game to resume your bonus, it will ultimately run the bonus through and award you what you won in those circumstances.
We hope that helps you have a bit of understanding around this – some slots will wait to the bitter end, but others give you a time limit before they move on.
