I’m vocal about some things – which as someone who is an online influencer will sometimes want to use my platform to influence! One area I bring up often is the need to not bang the screen or slap the buttons.
But with any opinion, sometimes you get pushback, as today’s question offers:
Why do you complain about button slappers? My wife and I have seen videos of you hosting slot tournaments on your cruises, and button slapping and touching the screen are part of it! Sort of like you get upset when you hear them while you are playing. But you sure do not complain when it is part of a contest you are hosting. Just an observation.

Let’s consider my position pro button slapping and screen banging only in times when it serves an actual purpose.
A slot tournament is a short-duration event with a game created to ask players to slap buttons and tap objects on the screen. By design, this is what you’re supposed to do. It takes place either in a specific location of the casino or outside the main casino space altogether, but in either event you can choose to avoid the area during a tournament if you find the sound annoying – a key point of distinction here.
By comparison, screen bangers and button slappers playing slots on the casino floor are often doing this on hold and spin games like Dragon Link. And their actions have no influence on the outcome of the bonus.

They are not slapping their way to another ball, or banging a ball into that empty space. On some hold and spin games like Dragon Link itself, you can’t even stop the reels during the hold and spin bonus, so there is nothing gained from their actions. On the other hand, those button slappers are disturbing a whole section of the casino floor with their energy, which tends to radiate negatively.
I’ve watched people hitting screens so hard they’re changing color, a clear sign the machine was ever so close to breaking, and they kept going. I saw players slapping the button so much they had to switch hands, but still kept going because for whatever reason they thought it was helping them. It doesn’t, but it does disturb the other players.
And unlike a slot tournament area, which is cordoned off in one specific location, these games are all over the casino floor, and so these players float all over as well, carrying their slapping energy with them. And their slapping and tapping actually serve a purpose.
A slot tournament is short, most players do it once or a couple of times, and move on. Button slappers do it every time, everywhere, and over time it does pull down your positive energy.
Just say no… to button slappers.

I totally agree and well said. I do get up and move with a side eye look .Thanks
Sometimes button slapping has a purpose, but when it doesn’t, it’s sometimes best just to get away from it :)
Something you didn’t remind readers regarding button slapping is the damage to the actual button, often leading to it not functioning for future players. I was at the casino last week playing Mo Mummy and doing minimum 1¢ bets, the guy 2 machines over was on nickel max bet and burning thru hundreds of dollars. He got a fakey shakey and punched the display so hard I thought he had to either break bones or the machine, after dropping almost 2 grand (and no real hits) his aggression towards the button and the machine were alarming. What was truly surprising was not a single casino security or floor person were ever dispatched to curtail his violent behavior
This is a good point Jim – enough wear and tear on the buttons means a less than ideal experience for the rest of us. Unfortunately we’ve seen the same around security not taking any action unless actual button damage occurs.
