IGT has been on a roll, with popular multi-level progressives like Mystery of the Lamp and Prosperity Link captivating players looking for something different. Magic Treasures, another hit, has now evolved into Magic Treasures Gold, building upon what players love the most with more pots that can reward players with Money Balls.
Let’s take a closer look at the slot, and what players can find on the new version.
Base Game

Magic Treasures Gold maintains the 5×4 reel set found on the original, offering 20 spaces in which to land line hits as well as Money Balls and other bonus symbols. The biggest change is the number of pots has expanded. Whereas the original had one Money Balls pot, this one has three, opening the door to more Money Balls.
There’s still the treasure chest triggering a separate bonus and the Jackpot Bonus picking opportunity, offering a diverse array of experiences throughout the game.
Money Balls appear on all five reels. Land them on at least three adjacent reels starting from the left and you’ll win the credit prizes and jackpots found on them. The Mini, Minor and Maxi can appear, along with credit prizes.
Multipliers can appear on the Money Balls symbols both in the base game and all other Money Balls elements throughout the game, which will multiply prizes by x2 or x3 (up to two multipliers for a top multiplier of x9). If the other bonus symbol types appear and don’t trigger a bonus, but help set up a Money Balls payout, they turn wild for the Money Balls, and this also occurs throughout the various Money Balls features of the game.
Money Ball Feature

The Money Ball Feature can trigger when a Money Balls symbol on reels 3 or 5 triggers a pot to close. The green Money Balls symbol (linked to the matching colored pot) appears on reel 3, while the purple and gold Money Balls symbols appear on reel 5.
Any Money Balls symbol can trigger the pot to close. The Multipliers and Wild Money Ball components work here too.
Regardless of whether the pot closes, the counter under the matching color Money Ball pot increases by 1 for each Money Ball that lands on the reels, building over time when the bonus is not triggered. This creates a rewarding feature when a pot closes.
With three pots, a unique new addition is the Laddering Feature – adjacent pots can be set off during the Money Balls feature, triggering even more Money Balls to be added to the reels!
Like in the base game, all Money Balls credit and jackpot prizes found on three or more adjacent reels will be awarded. If they appear on all five reels, you’ll win everything shown!
Jackpot Bonus

When triggered, this is a traditional match three bonus. You start with 15 envelopes, and pick until you match three, but with a twist! Unlike the Money Balls, all five jackpot options – Mini, Minor, Maxi, Major and the top Grand progressive jackpot – are available to be won. Multipliers can be found for the Mini, Minor or Maxi jackpots while picking, multiplying that particular prize if won, adding to the suspense!
Additional Bonus Mechanic
To create a unique flavor for both versions of Magic Treasures Gold, each version, Emperor and Empress, has its own unique bonus style as the third element.
They do share a number of things in common. Both start with 8 games, and an additional bonus symbol retriggers for three additional games.
The green, purple and gold Money Balls counters start at 5, 10 and 15 respectively in the bonus, and can build to 50 each.
The bonus symbols appear on all five reels, and can be triggered if at least one appears.
Free Games (Emperor)

This is a more traditional free games mechanic, with line hits being captured throughout. The Money Balls feature remains available here, triggered the same way as in the base game. The Money Balls collect capability, when they appear on three or more reels starting from the left, also is in play.

Cash Spins (Empress)

The Cash Spins focuses directly on Money Balls – the rest of the symbols are dimmed out. Therefore, it’s all about collecting Money Balls, either through the Money Balls feature, or landing Money Balls on three or more adjacent reels starting from the left, as in the base game.

Random Feature
On any spin where the various bonus symbols do not appear, the Emperor or Empress can randomly award the green Money Ball pot or other bonuses, an element retained from the original. It will rotate through the various options before coming to a stop on one, which will be immediately awarded. You could win the Money Balls Feature, a Jackpot Bonus, or the game’s unique bonus!
