Two excellent smoke free options have become available in recent years!
Las Vegas is the epicenter of casinos in the United States, between the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas Strip, to the throwback vibe of the Fremont Street Experience in Downtown Las Vegas. While many don’t see Las Vegas as an option for non-smoking gambling, two excellent options have become available in recent years, breaking apart the myth that Las Vegas can’t cater to players who prefer to experience smoke free casinos in Las Vegas.
Here we’ll explore the options currently available, and what they have to offer.

Park MGM originally opened as Monte Carlo, located on the southern end of the strip but relatively close to high-end properties such as the Cosmopolitan, Aria and Bellagio, all sister MGM Resorts properties.
When Park MGM reopened as part of the COVID-19 pandemic, the decision was made to make the resort 100 percent smokefree. While many casinos on the strip have evolved their hotels to be non-smoking, casino floors were often fully or substantially smoking options. Not so at Park MGM, where even the casino floor has been deemed a smoke free area.
Other MGM properties have added smokefree sections to their casino floors, but the spaces are not separated in ventilation, meaning smoke from smoking areas can still drift into those non-smoking areas. This makes Park MGM the sole smoke free casino option on the Las Vegas Strip, a refreshing option and shrewd counterprogramming by MGM Resorts to offer such an option.
For players who still wish to smoke, Park MGM is organized with a number of exits to the outside where smoking is available, thanks to the resort’s design. And players who still wish to smoke have a number of options nearby that they can enjoy, while those in their party who prefer smoke free gaming experiences can stay at Park MGM, the first of the smoke free casinos in Las Vegas.

The latest smoke free space to open is the first in downtown Las Vegas, and comes courtesy of the Plaza Hotel & Casino.
The air-separated smokefree room is the first dedicated smoke free space in downtown, with separate ventilation, specifically designed to separate smoking and non-smoking sections at the Plaza. This design ensures that non-smoking guests have truly clean air while gambling in this newly constructed casino space.
Brian’s partnership with Plaza began in 2021 with the original Brian Christopher Slots at Plaza space, which was a section of the existing casino floor and was a success, leading to the expansion that launched in 2023 as part of his commitment to promoting only smoke-free casino spaces. While his monthly residency concluded in 2025, the smokefree space endures as a testament to the dedication of both parties to offer a separate space for those who prefer a smokefree option.
The smokefree area was actually one of four new venues added to the Plaza Hotel & Casino in 2023; their Pinkbox Donuts, outdoor Carousel Bar and Oscar’s dining patio expansion further add to the attractions at Plaza, and freshening up what is one of downtown Las Vegas’ casino institutions.
The area has a separate entrance from the outside, and therefore does not require walking through the smoking casino to access. It is one of a number of fully smoke free spaces in the Plaza, which includes their bingo room on the third floor.

Thank you for advocating for smoke free casinos. I always hated leaving and all I could smell was cigarette smoke.
Thanks Shannon! We hope you find the resources helpful so you can find places you enjoy playing, including those that are smokefree!
It’s amazing that you guys support non-smoking casinos. As someone who has never smoked in their life but loves to gamble, I always leave Vegas with a sore throat and a cough for a couple of days from the smoke surrounding me.
Hey Stephanie – we definitely know what you mean, and we felt that too. That’s one of the reasons why we support it!
Brian,
Your room at the Plaza was truly a joy to gamble in. While I’ve been to casinos that have a nonsmoking section, your exclusive room truly is a cut above.
We went from your area to Plaza’s casino and noticed a difference. There weren’t that many smokers there. We went elsewhere to play and I was amazed how smoky these places were!
We were happy to get back to your room to play!!!
Congratulations on a great room and I admire your persistence in the campaign for smoke-free casinos!
Thanks Carolyn for playing and visiting! We’re glad you had a great time!
i feel that nobody should be discriminated against as a non smoker for 10 years. My local has a smoking section which should be in every one as a choice 8f the casino. It would be be like saying drinkers are not allowed ban all liquor. Just because i dont like something doesnt mean I should force rules on other groups of people. Its called discrimination
Thanks for your comment. We agree that no one should be discriminated against. However, smokefree spaces do not discriminate against anyone, whereas smoking spaces discriminate against 88% of the population plus let’s not forget about the employees who are forced to breathe in the air. As we are all aware, second hand smoke is extremely harmful to our health, which is why you’ve noticed that smokers are no longer allowed to smoke indoors anywhere else in the country. When it comes to drinkers at a bar, there is no evidence to suggest that one person having a drink affects the air in which the rest of the population breathes, so it is safe to do so openly. We have no doubt that casinos will be successful at adapting to smokefree spaces just as restaurants and bars have, as well as other countries who have implemented this 100% in all spaces.
Yes I Agree with You
Perfectly stated! I only went to Vegas once a because it wasn’t worth the migraine, sore throat and clothes smelling like an ashtray. Yuck! Maybe I will stay at ParkMGM someday soon! Thank you for advocating for smoke free facilities. I’m sure the employees appreciate you!
Park MGM is a great choice, as is the Plaza, given the dedicated gaming space available that’s smokefree as well! Employees (both casinos and our own) are definitely an important aspect of our advocacy.
