The Cash Express series goes back quite a ways, and is intrinsically linked to some of Aristocrat’s most enduring themes, like Buffalo and Timber Wolf. The original Cash Express was a small ante bet to activate additional bonus features on top of the classic games, but Cash Express Luxury Line Timber Wolf is a thoroughly revitalized and modernized take on the concept.
Timber Wolf’s base game and bonus are still prominent, but the Cash Express Luxury Line features, which are consistent across all themes, take on new forms, and offer exciting opportunities for players. The series, which were incredibly popular when introduced into physical casinos, have recently made their way online.
Let’s take a closer look at the game, and where you can play it online!
Base Game
Cash Express Luxury Line Timber Wolf follows the original Timber Wolf’s base structure of 5×4 reels and all ways pays structure – no pay lines are present. Pay table symbols consist of royal symbols and animal symbols as the premiums, with the titular Timber Wolf being the top payer.
There’s also wild moon symbols, but they only appear on reels 2 and 4. Owl symbols serve as the bonus symbol, and appear on all reels. Wilds also act as bonus symbols in this game, a rarity, but helpful since the bonus isn’t the easiest to trigger.
Four jackpot prizes are on offer, in this case matching its structure in the physical casino: Two static jackpots that change with bet, and two progressive jackpots that are available at all bets.
Cash Express Feature
Also on the reels, and new to this version, are the Cash Express symbols, which appear on reels 1-4 and include both credit prizes and trains (in four color variations, matching the four jackpot prizes). When Cash Express symbols appear and a star shows up on reel 5, the credit prizes are awarded instantly.
If one or more trains appear, the train will roll through with train cars awarding credit prizes, and the potential for that matching jackpot prize to be awarded as well. For the Minor, Major and Grand, the chance is at the conclusion of the train, whereas the Mini can be awarded within the train itself.
If more than one of the same train symbol color appears, the train rolls through once, and awards the amount collected for each train symbol of that color appears. If different color train symbols appear, each color train rolls through separately, awarding its own credit prize.
Luxury Line Feature
Instead of a star, the Luxury Line symbol can also land on reel 5. The difference is that instead of awarding the totality of all the credits earned from the credit symbols and trains once, they will be awarded 3-10 times by the gold train. So a great setup is a couple of train symbols followed by Luxury Line, which effectively is a gussied up win multiplier.
Pick Feature
If you get three or more bonus symbols, you get a choice of Free Games or the Luxury Line Feature.
- Picking the Free Games will award a Free Games feature (explained below).
- Picking the Luxury Line Feature will award a Cash Express feature with at least one Cash Express symbol guaranteed and either a star or Luxury Line symbol appearing on reel 5, also guaranteed.
Timber Wolf Free Games
The number of free games you start with depends on the number of symbols that triggered the bonus:
- 3 bonus symbols: 10 free games
- 4 bonus symbols: 20 free games
- 5 bonus symbols: 30 free games
During the Free Games, the wilds take on multipliers – x3 on reel 2 and x5 on reel 4. When both appear in a winning combination, x15 is awarded. On spins where the wild appears but does not line up with anything, a respin will take a second shot at securing a win.
The bonus can retrigger with two or more bonus symbols. Two awards 5 free games; three or more award the same number as in the list above.
The Cash Express feature is not active during the Free Games, so they aren’t obstacles to line hits.
